hi, Any bargains floating around on tool boxes or boxes and sets, similar to this:
REPCO had that at 1/2 price but the box itself I didn't feel was that great a quality and the tools are not what they once were.

Pulling and putting cars together, not commercial use, but a fair bit for many years to come.
For my son, he currently has a few sidchrome and kinchrome sets, plus a hundred spanners and extensions and special tools, impact wrench and sockets the lot.
Just that the boxes were $600 and $400 more and you get the tools. Just need somewhere to put all his bits n pieces.
I think in your case you can justify a pretty decent set.
I'm no mechanic but I have a few weekend track cars which i work on with the help of a couple mates. A good set can go a long way, also the right tools for the job helps significantly. A good place to put everything where it belongs helps track whether tools were put back or still hanging out in the engine bay
you dont say what your intended use is
for many home users, most of them tools will wind up unused
