Been almost 10 years since I've actually completed a pokemon game (Diamond and Pearl). I've just finished my high school studies and want to try pokemon out once more. Slight problem tho, old DS doesn't seem to quite make the cut. Anyone have any suggestions on where I should buy the game and console, whether 3ds is better over a 2ds or if the $169 2ds+Sun/Moon is a decent price?

I'm thinking of taking it around Uni every now and then (might get laughed at :P). I don't think awkward shape would be too much of a problem
It depends. If you're solely getting the DS just for Pokemon and want to save a bit of $$, then yea that combo is the best.
However if you are going to play other games on it and want to a fold-able one, then maybe get the 3DS
Can the 2ds run other games? From what I know. it can run 3ds cartridges and access the Nintendo store? I'm not too fussed with folding and whatknot.
2DS can run any normal 3DS games without any problem. Only difference is, you can't use the 3D aspects.
Only games you cannot run are those that are lablled 'New 3DS only' though you will hardly ever find a game like that for the time being.
Whelp that's good enough. I'll go for the 2ds unless a better deal comes on. As long as they don't make future pokemon games 3ds only, i'll be happy :) Thanks for help
There is quite a price difference, but if it were me I would get a new 3DS XL + a copy of the game. I have an original 3DS and always get so jelly of XLs when I see them. Then again, that said, when I'm playing on it I don't notice any issues with the size of the screen. As for the 3D itself, meh. Pokemon S/M doesn't even use 3D.

I find the 2DS is an awkawrd shape to transport around since you can't fold it down but if you are just going to be playing it at home that sounds like an alright price.
