Planning Small Wedding

Hi all,

Hoping for some help/advice. Planning on a small wedding with around 20-25 people in attendance. Want to book a venue/room for dinner.

Don't want to spend too much, any ideas/experience appreciated. I live in Sydney (south).

Thanks!

Lol… that's actually an appropriate response given the level of detail of the enquire..,

  • i went to a wedding here a couple years back. was a nice spot and not too far from sydney, my friends are definitely not loaded so would have been to a tightbudget. about 50 people

NSW is spoilt for choice i recommend you call around.

  • For that many people in a budget. Do it at home IMO

  • Breakfast Point Community Hall.

    You're covered from the elements.
It looks great (both outside and in).
Allows catering (or even self is your super tight).

I have photographed many ceremonies there. Got married myself there as well + afternoon tea self-catered.

Any venue with a sit-down meal will become $100 per head excluding alcohol. It's Sydney.

  • Do you want it to be a reception, or just a dinner? If just a dinner, you can book any restaurant. We only had 17 guests at our wedding and we went to a restaurant for dinner afterwards, instead of a formal reception

  • Whats your budget and what kind of ideas do you have?

A friend is getting married early next year, having the ceremony on a boat and then having the reception at a restaurant nearby. for 70 odd people i think its costing between 15-20k for everything

My husband and I got married in October. We had 10 guests in attendance. We got married in Queens Gardens in Perth City, then we had lunch at the revolving restaurant, C Restaurant. We used 2 Entertainment Book gold cards to get the price down. They had a lunch menu for main and dessert for $49 each, plus we got some sides and drinks which came to $800.

I didn't wear a wedding dress, I bought a white laced dress from Review, my two bridemaids bought dresses they liked. We did our own hair and make up. At the wedding, we didn't have any fancy decor. My celebrant brought a signing table and my Dad brought some chairs to sit on. My flowers were artificial, but you would never have thought they were fake. I ordered them online from http://flowersforeverafter.com.au . My cousin is a wedding photographer and she took photos for us.

We book our wedding night at the Crown Metropol, which had a discount for Entertainment Book members, plus they upgraded us to a river view room with champagne and chocolates.

All in all, including wedding rings, I think I may have spent $4K? Didn't really add it up, because I knew we were under budget.

Even though we kept everything simple, it meant that there wasn't anything to be stressed about. It was such a relaxing day.

Remember, it is your special day, so you can do whatever you want!

We had 18 people in total at our wedding.
We paid a small fee to get married on the beach, then just booked a restautant for dinner, didnt even tell them it was for a wedding.
I made my own wedding dress, my sister did flowers, my mum did a small cake, and we just got everyone to take photos.
Ended up being such a relaxing and easy day.
Not from Sydney, so cant give recommendations, but my advice would be to just find somewhere you like thats not too expensive, and book it, but dont mention its for a wedding or the price will quadruple!!
