Solved: free apple iphone? mistake? whats happening

Hi all,
Recently I bought an iPhone online from apple store, in first days I saw my card was charged for the exact price, however, after a while (still in processing) I noticed my credit card money came back to its original. My item is now on shipping (already sent) and I could not find any transaction related to apple any more.

My question is, when do they reduce the money? after receiving it in person? I doubt apple with that system makes this kind of mistakes.

thanks

  • Maybe you're not the kind of owner Apple wants? 😉

    • Im not the owner, its a gift, should I consider it as free gift? :D

      • Why don't you contact Apple to ask if they cancelled your order?

        • I just received an email that the item has been shipped and the tracking number is showing that

  • Lol. Yep, Siri has determined you are not hip and cool enough to be an iPhone owner. Probably sending you a box of turd instead.

    • maybe they know I'm one of those apple haters, as I said this is a gift, they want to bring me into the jail

  • Pretend you never checked your card transactions.

  • +1

found the answer here from internet, so no worries :)

I work for a bank, and after a week (5 working days) pre-authorization are removed automatically, to release funds that are unlikely to be taken. Doesnt stop apple making a new authority to remove the funds though. The same thing happened when I ordered an iPod. They didnt debit my account until 2 days after my iPod arrived, I thought I got away with it…

  • Very poor business practices. I might buy an ipad using a disposable auspost credit card and withdraw the balance once it has been returned to my account.

    • They probably will not ship unless the debit of your card works. OP's card provider is just a bit slow updating his online view.
