Canon EOS commendation

Hi Guys. I am after a new EOS which will be used primarily for indoor sports (Basketball) but unsure of which model to chase up.

Is there much of a practical benefit for me for EOS 70/80D over 700/750D? Budget is always a factor, but happy to stretch if worthwhile.

I am after a Canon specifically as I have some nice accessories (70-200 USM 'L' lens, Tamron 18-50 f2.8 lens and Canon 580ex flash)

Thoughts / recommendations?

Thanks

  • If you can stretch your budget a bit further I would recommend 7D mk2. This would be more suitable for sports due to the 65 cross type af points & 10 fps.

    • Hi apple - 7D mk2 would be awesome, but cannot stretch the budget that far. 2nd hand wont work either as my wife has a pathological dislike for 'stuff other people no longer want'

  • I just bought my Canon 750d from the recent good guys eBay deal plus cash back. If you’re price conscious like me then I think I got a pretty good deal for mine.

  • wait for 6D MK2 if you can
    due march/april next yr

  • I got the 700D when Dick Smith was closing. Ended up costing me $149 after cashback. Very happy with my purchase.

The 700D isn't the best for Sports photography as you will get some blur for faster moving objects, but other than that it's a good all rounder and there are plenty of deals to be had atm

    • Up that shutter speed, my friend

  • Probably going to want fast glass for indoor sports. Maybe something like the EF 85mm f/1.8 to start? f/2.8 is too slow for my liking to capture fast action indoors (without having to bump ISO through the roof).
