Best 10" Tablet for under $300

Hi im looking at getting a tablet that is mainly going to be used for watching video, web browsing and few simple games (angry birds, candy crush etc). Just hoping to get some recommendations for somehting that will not be too slow! My kids have a samsung 8" kids tablet and an ASUS memo pad 7 and they are both dreadfully slow! Even after a factory reset and deleting all the unsed apps etc.

So far Im looking at the Lenovo yoga tab3 or trying one of those Chuwi tabets that are on gear best…

thanks!

Teclast Tbook 10.6 inch currently going for $157.99 US dollars on Gearbest
    http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_328162.html

that's $214 Aussie dollaroos. Cherry Trail, 4 gigs of RAM, 64 gigs of storage, 1080p display, running Windows and a slightly outdated Lollipop ROM.

The review is average-good with a rating of 7.5 out of 10.

Pretty good price for the specifications.

I can vouch for this brand.

As for Android tablets, the Nvidia Shield Tablet is good.
However, as many people don't know, Android is not great on tablets.
Google has killed off their Tablet UI interface from ICS days, and very few Apps are optimised for it.
Sure they work, but they aren't optimised for it, and you only get a subpar experience.

As much as I dislike Apple, you have to give it to them and their ecosystem.
The iPad (despite dying sales) is still the golden benchmark.
It's just so polished and optimised for what it is: a tablet (a media consumption device).

You could look for a used 32GB iPad Air (or Mini 2) off gumtree, around the $300 mark.
Sure it might not be new, but there's a good chance you and the kids will prefer it over Android or Windows tablets.

      • cheers for the input… I agree in regard to the apple, the ones ive used are much nicer to use for everything except the ease of putting on / taking off movies and tv shows that i have on my pc… The whole apple formatting thing and itunes etc. never again for me! iphones turned me off, i swear they make it difficult interfacing with a pc rather than a mac just to try and get you to have apple everything! i switched to a galaxy phone and definitely prefer it.

Nvidia Shield K1 tablet $290 (slightly less if you don't use Amazon exchange and/or pay no international bank fees). This is still the most powerful Android gaming tablet period in terms of 3D performance (and it's overkill for Candy Crush, Angry birds etc) and it's updated constantly by Nvidia which is a whole lot more than most other Android vendors.

This is a great tablet (I own one) but there are cheaper options out there that are more than adequate for Angry birds etc. and other tablets for around the same money with larger screens/possibly higher image qualirty plus they're a little lighter.

Diji1 meant this lol not his Amazon self cart check out lol

Btw diji1 have you noticed any slowdowns or random slight freeze ups after long sessions with your nvidia shield tablet?

Mine is second hand but was in good quality when I got it.

Now after a few months of heavy use on some really hot days I notice it struggling also my keyboard touch screen digitizer can tend to fail on me at times ie lag presses and no touch registering at all.

Have you ever had this problem?

I do run a lot of stuff in the background from network monitoring apps to a bunch of social media and messaging apps while playing heavy games. Mainly War robots and vainglory.

Imho an extra 1gb of ram would have been the sweet spot hell even 4gb would have been nice but this was the 2014 model which is super duper impressive and still is for its time.

I have tab 2 and I find that there's definitely been increasing lag as I use it. Still an ok tablet though if you're just browsing the web and light apps.

Tab 2A. Brilliant value for money.

        • Which one? The A2 10-30? I thought the specs were a bit underwhelming, but not sure how it translates in real life.

    • Any thoughts on the Lenovo Tab 3?

      http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lenovo-tab-…

The Lenovo Tab 2 a10-30 seems cheap ($200ish), but not very well spec'ed.

  • i am looking at getting one tablet too, hopefully with a HDMI out port (any brands still do this?)
