The City of Sydney is offering a free coffee voucher which I assume will be at a cafe nearby. Also on offer is a free 35 minute walk that takes in the leafy backstreets of the Broadway Link, Chippendale’s vibrant Spice Alley and the New York inspired Goods Line. So rock up to the walk and get the voucher, then do as much of the walk as you want or wander off.

Thursday 22 December 2016 from 8am to 8.45am

The free 35 minute walk heads down trendy Abercrombie Street and passes art galleries, cafes and shops in Chippendale’s vibrant backstreets before going through the New York inspired Goods Line.

Tuesday 20 December 2016 from 8am to 8.45am

  • Redfern has a pretty cool dilapidated hospital, with a basement filled with soggy medical records and bloodslides
    Very hard to get into unseen though unless you got skillz

      I raided it years ago for its ethernet cables and made a pretty penny. It was not boarded up then just abandoned and icky.

        Why u no post that bargain :(

      • You my friend are a entrepreneur. How much did your light finger looting adventures net you?

        • I was selling lots of 10 x 2 metre ethernet cords for $10 plus delivery, if you lived in the city I turned up with a clipboard and pretended to be the delivery person, got good reviews for fast delivery for it! I probably picked up around 200 cables, more than half new and still in plastic. The place was full of squatters and trash, I am surprised at all the cool stuff that was lying around going rotten.

          @stormii:

          Okay, I think you just jumped 10 points in my books. That's smart, a lot smarter than what I see happening most of the time, which is people scrapping it for the copper. One place I went to, someone had ripped ever single wire from the walls and got the copper out. Probably made $1000, but spent several days doing it as there was insulation littered everywhere. Not something I would be keen on, but evidently asbestos is not the most pressing concern for some people :P

        • @outlander: The copper guys, grr, they ruin everything! I hate finding microwaves with their cords cut when all they needed was a $3 fuse, so I take the plate instead, I have a great collection of large clear platters now.

  • I'd be curious to know what the walking tour includes. Best action is the local Centrelink on Redfern Street.
