Fitness Tracker / Watch - Which to Buy?

Hi all
I have previously purchased from OB deals
Mi band - worked well but step/activity counter wasn't accurate
Pebble V1 - was great, long battery, simple apps - but is ugly as it is big, chunky and bright red
LG smartwatch - apart from vibe for messages and time I don't see the point of Android wear
Who wants to do apps on your wrist. Colour and watch looks was good, single day battery is terrible

So I am looking for a new device. With the lessons from above I would like (in order of importance)

  1. Shows/Tells the time
if it is on my wrist I look at it when I want to know the time, can't stop myself
  2. Measures activity
    I do gym/crossfit & daily walking.
HR monitor probably preferred & I would pay for that
  3. Decent battery
At least a few days - not daily charging
  4. Sleep tracking
I find this information surprisingly interesting
  5. Other features
    Health tracking or something else
Don't need lots of fancy but at least just a vibrate on call would be handy

I am thinking along the lines of a fitbit, garmin or similar
Was happy with Pebble but gather they are gone to fitbit now
If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it

Fitbit Alta? $98 (50% off rrp) at many places including JB, Good Guys etc.

I was recently tossing up between a Fitbit Blaze and a Garmin Forerunner 235. Although I liked the look of the Blaze I went with the 235 for the functionality. It's to be my Christmas present from Mrs 2905, so I won't be able to report any first-hand experiences for another ten days.

I also considered a Tom Tom (don't remember which model, but it was ~$300, like the other two), but quickly dismissed it due to the way the time is displayed on it (hours above minutes).

There is no device that accurately measures activity. Or sleep.

Fitbit Charge 2 would tick all your boxes. Can be had for <$200 during various sales/OzB hacks. I have one myself and am quite pleased with it.

Fitness trackers will never be 100% accurate, but as long as they are consistently inaccurate then it's OK for your own personal tracking needs.

    • I hear you about the consistency
      Cheers

Something different to consider, doesn't have heart rate tracking but pretty much everything else on your list is covered, plus 8 month battery life.

Did you try the latest Xiaomi Mi Band 2… $30… you can't go wrong… http://www.gearbest.com/smart-watches/pp_362705.html - ticks all the boxes.

Garmin Vivoactive HR… it's the best smart-fitness-watch as far as I know.

The Forerunner 235 is great too, but apparently its more expensive, has a lower battery life, is larger, and the GPS and HR monitor is not as accurate.
But I must say the Forerunner235 does look better in my opinion.
