Protected eBay Sellers beware

Hi everyone
Not going into the issue here, but I did notice something which is quite disturbing about eBay's larger sellers and how they cleanse feedback. example brintech_autoparts looks a great seller, no negative or neutral feedback at all. 37,000 positive feedback! If you watch the feedback, occasionally you will see non positive feedback, but it soon disappears, I assumed as the buyer becomes happy and revises. I left some non positive feedback again this seller and suddenly it disappeared, on calling ebay, they said they removed it due to the sellers request, with no consultation with myself.
It's then I started to look at others leaving non positive feedback to find their feedback also just disappears after a day or 2. It really destroyed my belief you could get a feeling out how good a seller is by their feedback. It appears ebay protects the big guys at all costs.

So be suspicious of any large seller with 100% positive feedback, this does not necessarily mean they are a good business to deal with.

Also interesting with their disputes solution involves a restocking fee, but that's another protectionism.

Cheers

  • eBay favours buyers much much more than sellers - believe you me.
    Yes, we have coped negatives for people purchasing on Friday and complaining they haven't received delivery on Sunday in time for their 4 yr old and that WE ruined THEIR birthday.
    eBay says this this valid and we wear it.

    Why did you give this particular seller a non-positive? What's the other side of this story as we've had only a few successful attempts at removing feedback and we HAVE TO clearly show which article/section of the eBay terms the feedback violates.

      I really didn't want to make this thread about why the feedback was left, the seller delivered the part next day. But when questioned on why the part didn't fit a particular vehicle, they requested a vin, and that was the last message they sent.
      It was interesting that when I went to leave feedback after 6 days, that ebay does not accept non positive feedback before 7 days on large sellers. That's fair enough as it gives them time to make the customer happy, but tto me the disturbing thing is that this seller is able to have all non positive feedback removed.

        No worries, I'm not here to defend the other seller or to force justification for the feedback given.
        I'm here to clear any blanket statements, that "seller is able to have all non positive feedback removed" Because that's definitely not the case. You wouldn't believe some of the negatives we had;
        $5 item- "It's not what my son thought it was" (a $200 product). How is that our fault their 8yo thought otherwise? - Would eBay remove the negative? nope.

        It's also worth to note that eBay's messaging system is horrible. We receive hundreds of messages daily and do miss some from time to time, there's no reply-tree where user's messages are combined into a thread, they're all separate and often miss the initial question or response, so sellers have to do a manual search- that's okay if you have 2 or 3 queries, but when you have hundreds daily, it's extremely difficult for the staff or owner to manage.
        It's always good to send another message to see if they've accidentally missed your reply; an initial response suggests that they want to assist.

    ebay can remove fb that doesn't meet the fb policy.
