GeekBuying - Express DHL shipping, what a joke

I have purchased a Mi Box, and paid for express DHL delivery. I have not received any response, I sent them emails following up and they responded in 2 days and provided a shipping number which did not work. Checked thy account page, and the item is still in processing (same as almost 2 weeks ago). Sent another email, no response..

This is a very poor customer experience, and I have started my PayPal resolution to hopefully get my money back!

  • I'm in the exact same situation with the Redmi Note 4 I bought from them, paid for DHL shipping so that I would get the item in a reasonable time frame, however it has been 12 days and they've still not sent it. Honestly don't know why this website is allowed on OzBargain considering their customer service.

      • I just received another email today which is identical compare to the email I received on the 14th after I initially followed up. Which provided me with a tracking number 6882360321 (DHL)and apparently it will be shipped in "2 days". Checked again on DHL website, and of course not valid.

        The order number is 3892020. Please follow up.

        • @Clear: just got an email saying the product is shipped and with tracking number. Checked again, tracking number not found. Come on.. This is the 3rd time.

        • @auslei: How long ago did you receive the email? It takes time for DHL to update the tracking.

        • @Clear: first time 3 weeks ago, then 1 week ago then 2 days ago. Same tracking number. I want my refund, this is ridiculous.

    • It's now been 19 days since my order and still not shipped.

    Tracking numbers don't always update instantly. The tracking will start once DHL process it through their sorting centre and with it being Christmas time… there will be delays.

      You need not be here if GeekBuying did not have so many complaints in the first place.

      • That is correct. I have given GeekBuying a chance to resolve the problem that is causing these issues.

          they have had a few chances, I for one wont ever use them or "everbuying" again
          they have burnt me a few times, lucky for me a chargeback seemed to work sucessfully

  • Out of interest, were there options to send via other freight companies? (Eg TNT etc)
    Do you know where geekbuying ships from?
    DHL actually has the best reputation from businesses in Xiamen.

    My dhl tracking took a few days to show,then it showed events from days earlier. I had good service from geekbuying, and will be buying there again.

  • Same happened to me buying a phone there in November.

    I suspect they order the unit in once they receive the money and whenever they get it they forward it on.

    In my case:
    1) tracking number received within 24 hours
    2) 10-12 days elapsed with no updates
    3) DHL actually received package
    4) 2-3 days package delivered

    It seems they send out the tracking number quickly to attribute the delay to DHL while they are sourcing the product.

    For it's part, DHL are fantastic, once they actually get the package.

  • Actually I had the same thing happen recently too! I normally just go for cheaper slow shipping but did not want to risk a delivery while away so opted for express shipping via TNT and paid the extra. Two weeks later…. processing… Now I'm hoping it doesn't get sent for another two weeks.

    • This is exactly the reason why I opted the paid "Express DHL shipping" with 10USD extra. 3 weeks later now, not shipped. I hope paypal can refund my money.

      • Any updates on the situation? It's been 3 weeks since my order and it is also still not shipped.

        • Mine shipped on the 27th. Tracking code gives "Detail page of shipments. The shipment barcode was not found." It does say in the shipping email that it may take 3-5 days for shipping info to update on the tracker though.

          In my case it turned out that my batteryless device was unable to be shipped via TNT due to safety reasons because of the imaginary battery and they were waiting to hear back from me to make sure I was Ok with an alternate shipping method.

          To be fair, they did email me about this but I have almost all promotional emails auto deleted by my email account and so didn't see it.

        • I got the product yesterday. I bought on the 8th and the item in "processed" state for 19 days and sent via DHL.The package showed it was received on 27th by DHL. It could also because Xmas. But yah, it at least took them 2 weeks to process, once sent then it was fast. Altogether it took 22 days . The product is good and packaged well,though the price on the invoice is wrong. It stated 40USD for mi box.

          The overall experience is not good, slow confirmation email, slow response, 3 email confirming item was sent and it was not. The DHL option was misleading as there is no way for you to get item faster and the bottleneck is them.

        • Well I have more progress. Tracking now shows item as in pre shipment. Something along the lines of a notice of intent to ship has been placed but the item is not yet with the shipping company. I guess this has now worked out ok for me and should be arriving when I am well and truly back at work.

        • I ended up getting a full refund through PayPal. Not gonna buy from GeekBuying ever again after this mess.
