Immediate internet solution?

Hi, I got on to optus last month about upgrading my plan to 150gb a month.
They said it would begin during this month (July).
Relying on this, I downloaded a bunch of things and when I checked my usage yesterday,
surprise surprise optus hadn't updated my plan yet.

I'm almost capped right now and I have family members who are relying on the internet this month
as part of their work so I'm in a bit of a dilemma.

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a temporary solution, preferably without
a contract as it'll only be needed for this month. I'm needing at least 30gb and would hope
that it would cost me under $150 (all up). I have optus cable installed right now, but no adsl2+ so
any installation or modems would be added to that cost =[.

Has anybody else been in this situation and could offer me some advice?
Thanks!

Why not get onto Optus on the phone and ask them to hurry up?

If not, maybe Unwired if you can get it?

  • The only thing that comes to my mind is mobile broadband, but it would cost more than your budget allows. ~$400 would buy 29 GB and a modem with Virgin.
You could try asking for advice at http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/

  • I'd get cracking on optus and explain your situation. let us know how it goes.

  • Hey mate, it's not 30GB but if you're desperate this might be an option in the meantime:

    Edit: as Lacerta said.

  • thanks for suggestions guys.
i got on to the optus department today because they were closed over the weekend.
they said one of the databases hadn't been updated and that they would activate the
new plan at about midday yesterday…it's past midnight now and nothing has changed
    i'm still capped!
bastards..have to call them up again tomorrow.

    • I'd pressure Optus. Ask for the complaints dept if you aren't getting the service expected. It will cost a lot otherwise. If for some reason their hands are tied till next month maybe then ask if they can offer you a better (discounted) deal via an Optus usb 3G modem to tie you over in the interim (Don't think you will get 30Gb + modem, uncontracted in your budget from anyone though).
