Applying for Jobs in Australia

Hi everyone,

I'm an American who is hoping to work in Australia in either healthcare administration or business development.

My question is, what information should I add to my resume to show my strong interest in moving to Australia to work and develop my professional skills?

I understand that I can explain my interest in my cover letter, but I'm not sure how to show that same interest in my resume.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Probably evidence of being in process of migrating to Australia. Generally employers don't want to go through the process of sponsoring somebody unless it's an exceptional role.

Healthcare administration is a vastly different industry in Australia, with many fewer non-clinical opportunities. BDM roles might be an easier path.

You have almost zero chance of getting a job while you are still in America. Your best bet would be with a US based company.

Are you an Australian citizen or do you have the right to work in Australia?

You have almost zero chance of getting a job while you are still in America.

Go apply for a job with TCS or Infosys in India … they'll have no issues sending you to Australia on a 457 visa. They'll probably pay you in Indian rupees though.

    • Disagree
Higher experience tends to give a negative outlook on your chances of getting job
Get an Oz number (Skype lets you do that) , Apply highlighting that on top. Be ready to get calls.
Also try cold calling few agencies here . Explain them your situation and tell them that you're more than willing to move here.

      Good Luck mate

  • You need to be in Australia unless you are exceptional and have skills that can't be filled locally.

  • Make sure you check out Visa job categories as it's topical and they are clamping down on skilled immigration. I think it may be an expensive and difficult process for those categories you mention, particularly if you lack experience.

  • Well, you're already in Queensland, according to your profile……

    • Sounds like a troll based on his post history.

      • Yep - studied here and there, wants to work here and there…..

        Agree with you.

        • Yes. Sorry guys. Most of my posts are on behalf of friends from the USA who needed some input on working here in Australia, and thought the ozbargain forum people might have some good thoughts. And yes, I'm actually based in brissy.

    Did you vote Trump?

  • Get a job in a global company that is either headquartered in the US or has corporate functions in the US. Ensure that company has strong corporate functions in Australia. Then trsnsfer internally. The company will take care of visas and also pay for your relocation costs.

Happens constantly at my company and many others i know. Typical grade of workers who can most easily get this opportunity are new graduates (to be molded with the most global experience early) or experienced professionals bringing lead skills.

Their best bet is to front up the cash to put their application forward to an AU visa service.

I used this company & I KNOW, had I not used them, I either would have been denied or would have been denied trying to do it on my own.

Call via Skype & see what they have to say?

    Good luck to them!

    :)
