Whats a Fair Price for a i5 2500 CPU

What would be a good price for getting one of these used? 60 or so?

  • I sold one 3 months ago for about $120. YMMV. Go to eBay, search i5 2500k, click sold listings and find the average.

    • OP asked for a 2500, not 2500k.

  • $120 dollars.

  • $120 doesn't seem worth it, but it is still the cheaper option if you just want to get an older pc working again.

Could get a brand new skylake mobo and similar cpu for $$220.

  • thanks, ill see if i can find one for 100ish then.

gonna hand down a few bits and pieces for my brother, he can take my old 7970 with this cpu if i find one.

didn't realise that sandybridge is 5+ years old now, kinda forgot how long ago it was when i made my machine. might have to overclock the 2500k now just finally lol, these were a good line of CPUs still going strong today hah

    • not worth even sub $100

      problem is finding s1155 boards

you can get a new i5 for around $200

i say swallow the $100 just for newer boards and not one, not two but FOUR generations newer technology

      • i get where u are coming from, but i just needed to get my brother a semi decent gaming rig. i ended up only needing to spend $242

found an old dell optiplex 790 for 65$,
had a i5 2400 and i used the motherboard (q65 express chipset) in that
i had an old 128gb ssd laying around, so popped that in
case - got an old one for free from a friend
gpu - has a 560ti for the time being, but will get my 7970 when i get my new card
        cpu cooler - 32$ (new)
        power supply - 85$ (new)
        8gb ram - 60 (new)

pretty happy with that, once he gets my 7970 he will be able to run anything up until now pretty much. it was a bit of a challenge/mission, probably could have done it for a little cheaper - just depending on what you can find/salvage at the time. i missed out on a 750w corsair that was going for only 40$ on gumtree - looked to be in good condition aswell. ram i could have probably saved a bit, but couldn't find the timings i wanted, so best to just buy it new

        • i'm not disagreeing with you in some circumstances… eg. i'm a information consultant and we often just roll out dell 780/790s which work fine as they are and as a bonus, they have a free copy of win7 pro… they do fine as a std. office machine

if they blow up, get another one exlease
