Bioware Five Giveaways Starts Today

Moved to Forum: Original Link

According to this article at GameSpot Bioware is going to be giving 5 free games. Rumor is Mass Effect 2 is the first one so maybe they did jump the gun on bumgodrums post here.

Could the DLC for ME2 and ME3 be part of this. Fingers crossed. Will update link when available - currently just the tweet from Bioware is the link. Mods can decide whether this is a forum post or a a deal. Either way its a heads up!

Update 22/12/16
Gang - think I found some the "free" stuff you will need an EA account or Origin account.
Whether its part of this promo is debatable.
Click heresign in and you can claim Dragon Age Origins DLC and Dragon Age 2 DLC.
Looks to be for PC,PS4 and Xbox1. Main link updated as well.

Update 2 22/12/16
Looks like that Dragonage DLC is old news. Mods may be time to remove post as no actual free stuff yet. So far just competitions. As disappointed as everyone else :(

Mod 22/12: Moved to forums and changed title to giveaways. If any freebies do eventuate they can be posted as a separate deal at that time.

    or.. maybe not..
    free plushy anyone?

    • +3

Yep, the Gamespot article was based on a tweet that says "five days of freebies", Bioware didn't say "games" at all.

The "Day 1 freebie" was announced in another tweet - it's "RT for a chance to win" - prize is a stuffed toy (Krogan). So far it's more like a competition - and not necessarily for games.

Expecting Mass Effect Andromeda with Season Pass and all pre-order content.

    I'm an optimist

It's the square enix surprise bundle all over again.

      • +1

how disappointing was that! i opened a support ticket for a refund :(

        • +1

You and me both. I literally won't ever playa any of those games.

        • @Rochie: i talked with a support member and they responded that I only need to press the cancel order button to get a refund. I did not unlock activation, that's why I can ask for a refund. Hope you did not as well.

        • +1

@yummycoot: I made a mistake and clicked on the bundle to see what was in it. Though that as long as I didn't activate the keys I could refund but it turns out nope.

        • @RobinWade: damn, the two good things about the bundle is hitman: intro pack and some discount codes.

Would be genuinely amazed if they include DLC, they still refuse to sell the games with DLC. If they did the three ghosts of Christmas must have visited them.

Oh! but he was a tight-fisted hand at the grindstone, EA was! A squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner!

"If I could work my will, every idiot who goes about with 'but I can't afford to pay $110 just to get the rest of the content for a game I already bought' on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through his heart. He should!"

You forgot the part where EA was as solitary as an oyster :)

  • Is a rumour a legit bargain though? Better off waiting until it is announced and available before it is?

    • +10

      Early warnings prevent unecessary purchases.

  • +4

What platform is this on? Origin? Steam?

    • +3

Owned by EA so I'd assume origin only.

  • [UNCONFIRMED]

  • Edit: I'm an idiot, it was the chance-to-win-a-plush-toy, just like the first comment says above.

So.. did it get cancelled or something?

Bioware tweeted they'd be "giving away five days of freebies starting tomorrow" (tweeted on the 19th - so giveaway starts 20th December), but it's already the 21st on the east coast of the US. Looks like 20th came and went with no giveaway?

The "unconfirmed" part was whether or not the free Mass Effect 2 on Origin was the first day's freebie for this promotion. But it wasn't on the right day, wasn't a full day, and hasn't been acknowledged by Bioware, is that correct?

I can't see anything about it on their Twitter from today:

Yeah, looks like people misinterpreted it. Ah well. Any Bioware game likely to be given away I already own, so no hard feelings here.

Yes it was slightly bewildering to watch this deal continue to gain upvotes, presumably on sheer hope, even though literally the top 2 comments are pointing out (including evidence) it's possibly-not-such-a-great-deal.

The internet is an amazing place… Merry Christmas, everybody :)

    • Wait, that was it? The "giveaway" was "retweet for a chance to win a cheap plush toy"?

My expectations weren't high, but crikey…

  • Are they actually giving any games or just a chance to get games?

How do you even find them? Twitter is a cesspit!

    • +4

      Chance.

      And no games, so far.

  • +6

    Misleading, no game at all!

  • so any updates yet wat the free stuff will be ??
