  • They had a $39.99 one from Aldi which comes with a remote control. Not sure if still sold at your local Aldi.

  • What about this one guys?
https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/kambrook-40cm-arctic-pedestal… my mom bought the desktop version of it.it was not that bad.

  • Where you from? The vertical fan from Costco for $100 is great and comes packaged with a second mini fan. It has a remote and timer which is great for use at night.

  • I have the Midea FS40-12AR, it is really quite compared to my cheaper pedestal fan. It's a DC motor so it's super quiet for sleeping. Paid $149 posted from Home Clearance.

    • I have been looking at Midea FS40-12AR and notice that Kogan have a rebatched model https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-dc-motor-pedestal-fan/ going for $119 with free postage. It looks exactly the same. Waiting for Kogan sale to pull the trigger on this fan.

    • That appears similar to a Sunbeam FA8900 I bought nearly 4 years ago. I think i paid about $110 for it at the time. A lot of people might scoff at paying that for a fan, when you could probably buy one for $5, but I consider it money well spent. It has some real design flaws that weren't deal breakers for me. It's been durable and reliable and more importantly, quiet enough for sleeping. In my opinion, right or wrong, I think blade design and number of blades help it push more air efficiently, which probably helps it and the motor stay quieter. I would be interested to hear someone else's opinion on this.

OP if you are looking at fans in store, that have any display or lights, make sure and consider the light it will give off in a dark room. And check if action menu buttons make any beeping noise. These can be deal breakers you won't know about until you have it in your bedroom!

  • Yes that's exactly the same, even the remote. Only difference is the Midea has 2 year warranty which is no big deal.

  • Thanks guys I'm going to go to a few stores and have a look.
