Enhanced Steam

It's probably time to remind Steam users of the mega-useful add-on for your favourite browser at http://www.enhancedsteam.com/.

Most helpfully it adds the option to see the historical lowest price for a game AND if it's currently cheaper elsewhere.
Avoids the chance of snagging a Steam bargain only to find it half the price elsewhere. :/

NB Only works in-browser, NOT in the Steam interface itself.

Kerbal was free when it first came out, so that would be it's historical low.

    • it is

    • You don't see a difference between alpha/beta and release versions?

  • Best me by 2 min! Was just about to post the same thing…

I noticed fallout was 67% of making it about 25… But it's not a highlighted deal…I assume this means it will get a larger discount in the future?

  • +1

I think there a bunch of other games too..Just got my childhood favourite game for USD10.49 which is pretty cheap i recon

  • +1

Final Fantasy VIII is selling for US$6, 50% off. Might bite the bullet and get it for some good ol' nostalgia.

  • Dumb question about giving as a gift:
My son and I share a Steam account. If I buy something as a gift, it just sends the Steam key to his email, right? It doesn't link it to his email or something that would prevent him from redeeming into the account that purchased it?

    • +4

Usually when you purchase a game as a gift on Steam it goes into your inventory and that item can be gifted to another account or redeemed on your own account at a later time. See here: http://i.imgur.com/N6JLRL9.jpg

Hoping for a 50% off Quantum Break.

    • +4

Prices don't change throughout the sale like they used to.

No flash sales, no daily deals, no community voted deals. It's been like this ever since that refund option was added to Steam.

    • cheaper to buy it from jb hifi for $39 bucks than steam.

    • Yeah its $30 bucks expected it to be 50% off as well

  • +1

The Sniper Elite Series is quite cheap 10.00 USD for the third one. Might be worth putting in.

    • Anyone know if the Zombie Army Trilogy are comparable? I loved Sniper Elite v3, but ZA looks kinda iffy maybe…

    • Thanks! Bought!

  • +3

You can remove the "day 1" bit from the title I think. Pretty sure they just highlight different deals each day and the actual sale on all games goes right through with nothing new added along the way.

  • +3

They really ought to get around to AUD pricing. The USD conversion is killing a lot of the deals.

    • +1

It was a great year when the dollar was at parity, every sale since has seemed like a rip off after conversion.

  • Looking for probably mafia III sale

  • -3

Still early at only Day 1 Steam Christmas sale, so far it is another mediocre sale… again.

    • +1

There is no "still early" any more. The sales are set and forget, they just rotate what's displayed on the main page. Too many complaints from people buying a game at 50% off and then having it go 75% off another day.

      • -1

So there won't be new deals popping up each day over the next few days and all the sales are set on day 1? Alright then, this concludes this year's sale as another mediocre sale again.

        • +1

Correct. They don't do the rolling discounts any more. I'm glad tbh, was a pain in the ass buying a game at 70% off then seeing it go 90% another day.

  • Waiting for Civilization VI

  • +3

This sale is pretty mediocre. Most items are double of what they should be: Dark souls $10.99 http://store.steampowered.com/app/211420/ was $4.99 last sale .

Lots of items didn't go on sale e.g. Metro 2033 still $14.99 http://store.steampowered.com/app/43110/ NBA 2k15 and 2k16 both @ full price

Global Offensive worst price ever $10.04 http://store.steampowered.com/app/730/ was 7.49 last Christmas sale.

Bioshock infinite is super expensive $20 for the base game http://store.steampowered.com/app/8870/

But on the plus side Ark: Survival is $11.99 http://store.steampowered.com/app/346110/ but the DLC is toxic price $13.39 http://store.steampowered.com/app/346110 more than the base game.

pretty poor sale expected things to go a lot cheaper

  • How long will METAL GEAR SOLID V : THE PHANTOM PAIN be on sale for? Can't see a countdown timer on steam store page :/

    • I'd assume 3rd of Jan when the rest of the sale ends.

    • Do you need to be logged in to use it? I'm a little paranoid about my Steam library security.

      • +1

No, it works while logged out.

  • Anyone know how much the $20USD steam gift cards are at EB games?

    • +4

They are in AUD now in 20/50/100 cards and it converts to USD when you activate the code on steam and uses the current exchange rate.

  • Nice! I was about to buy City Car Driving the other day, but withheld in hope of a sale. I just pulled the trigger on JB's $379 G29 + shifter + game. Need to practice driving in the US for a year long road trip. And by the looks of it on ES, it's the cheapest it's been so far :)

  • Pretty lackluster of a sale this Christmas!

I prefer to use this amazing extension when hunting for deals: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/key-master/aealfac…

but, i'll give Enhanced Steam a go as well, thanks!

    • i just tried this and not too impressed, the extension mixes up currencies so some sites are listed in AUD and others such as steam USD making it less useful for comparing

      • +1

interesting, i'll let the dev know!

  • -1

Farcry 4 is better value/cheaper at EB games ($28 for "complete" version vs ~$27.70 for standard version on steam). Unfortunatley its an Origin version rather than steam :(

  • +1

Don't buy pay day 2. It is a freemium game that costs Money

  • Anyone who like survival games the long dark is a killer, so far im on day 54… still going strong but yeah great game.

    Also op

    Fire watch is 40% off.
    Portal 2 80% off.
This war of mine 80% off.

    All on steam.

  • MGS Phantom Pain $12.55 US at Game Billet: https://www.gamebillet.com/eu/Metal-Gear-Solid-V-The-Phantom…

  • Anyway to add a column for Aussie pricing (USD to Aussie) so it's easier to check pricing?

  • Meh, I was hoping for a good deal on Total War: Warhammer!
