Ebay and Gumtree to aquire the barely used tools of others misplaced visions for a fraction of the cost.

What sort of training are you talking about, resistance or aerobic, bodybuilding or fitness? Are you likely to be benching 100kgs or 50kgs or 20kgs?
Do you already train somewhere and have you been taught how to train?

    • Awesome notes taken.

A few years back when I was hitting gym hard got to 100kg bench. But I'll be nowhere near that for awhile. Vegan Body building!

Got a toddler atm so time is precious want to use old garage after the summer heatwave, maybe put in oversize fan.

Self taught might go back for a lesson to check lifting form is good.

Years ago I forked out for a full home gym. I think if I was gonna do it now I would just grab a bench, some dumbbells and maybe put up a bag.
Can cover Arms, chest, shoulders, back and legs all with the dumbbells until you see how it goes training at home. If you have a cheap gym around (I have one about $7 bucks a week) you could then just drop in once a week for a quick session with the bigger equipment and it's still cheaper than a full home set up.
I just bought some Hex dumbbells from Rebel 210kg + 215kg they were buy one get one half price then used Rebel Amex offer to get another $60 back as statement credit. I got a cheap bench I think from Crazy Sales that was fine, dunno if it's the same ones they have now. I've heard you are better off doing Dumbbell press and fly on a mat though anyway if you don't have a spotter.

        • How does that Amex offer work? Heard so many talking about it. Can I still sign up?

        • @Javelin: You need to have an Amex card and register for various offers that come up. The Rebel one has expired now.

  • Sorry to hijack your thread but where can you find kettle bells on the cheap in Melbourne/ Australia?

What weight? You can get smaller kettlebell weights in both Kmart and Target. Would be hard to beat their prices.
