COTD Treasure Hunt's Sennheiser CX400 FAKE?

Purchased one.. last week from the treasure hunt? — >http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/28165

are they fakes? I checked reviews online and they match the criteria of being a 'fake' one :S but not too sure. What do you guys think?

and P.S: for the people who bought it.. for the spare earbuds, i got 2 small ones and only 1 large one.. are you meant to get 2 large ones with it?

  • Macro-pictures please (Macro is a setting for your camera, select it and its very high-res for close-ups)
I'll help you with a visual inspection.
    Lots of pictures will help.

Got some guides [should have] with the cx400 fakes

  • Thanks for your post. It makes me feel better that I missed out on the deal :P

    • LOL
Go to mymemory.co.uk, their sennheisers are quite cheap considering they're an authorized dealer..

      • I don't believe COTD (or any established Aus business) would risk its reputation and sell $10 fakes….. most of the Treasure hunt item were sold well under cost, and the cx400's are an example of that.

As for the ear bud, yes you should have received 2xsmall, 2x med, and 2x large (with the mediums installed on the buds themselves). Perhaps just a packaging error.

        • so is it possible for them to resend me another large bud? D:

        • I hope you are right. I definitely would not have made the purchase if I thought I was buying a fake set.

  • +1

im not too sure about it myself now.. i was sent with a damaged pouch and missing large earbud aswell :/

    • PICTURES and I will help you, flip the pouch inside out and lets see the stitching

        • Pouch S logo seems to be fine..
I can't see anything else, because everything is blurry, I think stitching is okay too, look for the "M" on your camera, you'll never be able to get high-res close-ups unless you use the "M" function [macro photo]
From what I can tell.. from the blurry pictures, the inside stitching of the pouch seems fine.
From what I've heard.. seems pretty dodgy about the earbud missing, Sennheiser usually doesn't do that… But then again, the final test is sound, is it unimaginably clear, hits you smack in the face if you've been listening to the crappy Apple iPod earphones that your cx400s are definately a premium product?
          My cx300iis were..

          • @cwongtech: haha i lost my apple ipod earphones ages ago.. and really.. their not that good. It's not as good as i expected from the sennheiser cx-400 :/ i mean it does block the outside noise and all being good in-ear earphones but the sound really isnt that great

            • @curiousman: Any old decent branded earphones from $20 and up will smack the stock ipod earbuds anyday.

And cwongtech if the cx400s smacks you in the fact, try some of the higher end stuff ($100+, street price not rrp, they will not only smack you in the face, they'll blow your socks off compared to ipad earbuds)

            • @curiousman: If they aren't that great then I think there's something dodgy about it =\
Unless QQQ can produce where he or she got their stock from..

              • @cwongtech: =/ i mean their alright.. but.. not as good as I expected.. and QQQ hasn't replied in days. Fishy

Are you kidding me? I do the sennheiser deals myself… not fake, no way.

    • my pouch came damaged(the back part of it) and im missing one large earbud

      • +2

They could be damaged/refurb/seconds stock. It would explain how COTD can get them so cheap and the missing buds.

        • Just so you guys get an idea of how cheap Sennheiser FAKES can be bought for, I was looking around to get cheap HD228s, but here is a spreadsheet of prices for fakes
          .xls file

  • Received my CX400's (burgundy) today, no missing bits, all legit.
