Second the RCG2… great torch!
Average pricing, I can't really beat that, but, alot of the Cree equipment from China is improving slowly. You can't go wrong for the price.
Probably the best torches don't use the standard size batteries (e.g. AA). It'll depend what you're looking for. If you're looking for a standard powerful torch, Maglites are good, but usually aren't too many deals for them at this time of the year. Cree make good bulb emitters, so shop around for torches that use Cree.
DealExtreme usually stock them quite cheaply, but shipping could take more than a week.
I recommend the Romisen RC-F4. Be aware it uses CR123A batteries though.

If you want one that uses AA, I reckon the Romisen RC-G2 is outstanding for its price. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3607 though I personally didn't buy my old one from DX, DX hasn't let me down so far.
Both of these use Cree emitters.
