Pregnancy upsize car advice needed budget approx $5k-$6k

Hi everyone,

My fiance's sister is pregnant and is looking to buy a larger and safer car and I thought I'd come and ask for some suggestions

She has asked for it to be
4 door
Manual
Easy to put a baby seat in
Boot big enough to put a pram in

She has given me a budget of about $5k - $6k so does anyone have any ideas on a reliable car within these parameters without too many km's on it?

Thanks in Advance

EDIT: Forgot to add, we're in Sydney

  • i have a magna that I am about to go about selling… we have just upgraded to spacia van
1999 - service records all up to date (as per manufacturer), 150000km (auto though)
they are great to drive, safe

we are expecting in the vicinity of 5500
    (in melbourne)

  • +1

For that price range all you can get is a Mitsubishi Magna FTW

  • ive seen some suburu forester 4wds for that price

    • couldnt argue - but they have all done at least ~75000km more…

  • Hyundai Elantras would be my recommendation. You should get a 2005 (or thereabouts) model with about 100,000 km for about $5K-$6K. My opinion (not based on any research) is that Hyundai's are more reliable than the Kia's and Suzuki's out here.

    • they hold their value very poorly though…

  • The lady has not returned..?
Anyway if you do have a look around www.carsales.com.au some great bargains to be found on there but like always when buying a used car… be extra careful!!

  • Thanks for the advice everyone, she ended up getting an 02 Honda Civic from a friend for pretty cheap
