High Pressure Cleaner (Any Recommendations?)

Planning to buy a high pressure cleaner but I am not too sure which one is good (don't mind to pay bit extra).

Any recommendations?

  • Spitwater

Best unit I have had ever.

  • At the cheap end, I have had a Gerni 100.3 for 4 months now as my first pressure washer. $60ish from SCA ebay. I am probably going to spend more on attachments….

It performs well, so it's now just a case of whether it lasts.

  • If you know someone who subscribes to Choice they have done a comparison of various models.

We rang a friend of ours who gets the magazines, but he couldn't find the article; however, it turned out he had a pressure washer we could borrow. Score. This is a GMC and it is pretty good, but I'm not sure you can get them anymore and there are probably better ones. Good enough for us to clean our decking though.

  • One topic I read was that the washers performance ability is calculated not on the PSI alone, but PSI x L of water/per minute so a 2000PSI unit with 6 Litre/minute water rate performs worse than a 1800PSI x 7.5 Litre/minute water rate. So calculate that to compare models.

Also, what were you looking to pressure wash? I have a $400 Karcher and am pretty happy with it but the higher-end units can get more done in less time since the spray is stronger so you can either clean wider sections in one sweep by moving the nozzle further away.

  • brand model price percent
    exceed ex22hpw $199 84%
    hitachi aw150 $299 84%
    gerni classic 120.2pc $299 79%
    evoworks ultimate 2100 $429 72%
    karcher k3.800 $399 76%
    karcher k2.360 $249 74%
    gerni classic 115.3 $159 72%

Had been looking at Karcher lately. Lots of specials at Bunnings. But a lot of reviews say they dont last. The plastic pump? dies frequently and is not replaceable. I think Gerni is probably the better bet. Waiting for a sale, or price match soon.

  • The cleaners sold by Bunnings, Supercheap etc are crap.

As an ex Karcher and Warwick rep selling industrial machines I wouldn't own any of those toys. One thing that is annoying is the marketing ALL companies use in PSI. PSI means bugger all if the water volume doesn't match it.

1500PSI is most affective using 11 litres per minute. You can't get that from the plastic machines. You may get close to 1500PSI but your water volume is around 7 litres PM.

The BEST small pressure cleaner is not cheap. These have been on the market for many years and are built by Interpump the largest high pressure pump company in the world in Italy.

The Turbo 8-90 as they call it does 1300PSI at 8 LPM. It has a brass pump with ceramic sleeves on the pistons and weighs around 23KG.

    • what do they go for if you dont mind me asking?

  • Had my Karcher for like 10 years now and it's still going strong. No issues. Get the biggest one you can afford if you want it to pressure wash tiles etc..
