I booked a Qantas flight to Japan on March 2017. Because of a (fortunate) series of events, I got a ticket to Fall Out Boy's concert on the same day that I arrive! Because the concert is at 7pm and I arrive, assuming no delays, at 5:30pm, I would like to change my flight to an earlier one.
The change flight fee costs $100 + the fare difference, which is only about $10.
Is there any way to change a flight cheaper with Qantas?
Alternatively, I could wait for my flight to have schedule changes and tell them the new schedule works for me and I need an earlier one, but that's leaving it to chance.
$110 isn't so bad … travel agents typically tack on a few hundred.
Try looking on Gumtree/Ebay for a discounted Qantas gift card, that you can use for the flight change. Might get a good deal on a low denomination one, since you can't do much else with it.
I wouldn't leave it too long, the fare difference will only go up closer to the departure date.
