Geekbuying Shipping

So I purchased the xiaomi mi5 off geekbuying about 2 weeks ago. I sprung for the EMS shipping as I didn't the phone that urgently. I received an email confirming the item was shipped on Dec 17, but whenever I track the item there is no information present, whenever I call them they tell me to wait a couple days for the information to update and now when I call they don't pick up. Where should I go on from here?

  • Due to Christmas there are significantly more packages going through transit than normal causing delays in shipping. This is why the tracking has not updated. Their phone number typically works during business hours and outside of lunch breaks (they are 3 hours behind AEDT).

Shoot me a PM with your order number and I'll get GeekBuying to double check everything.

    @Clear
I am hoping you can help me out, my order number is 3902781. I have bad feeling after I bought the phone through Geekbuying. I checked with them before hit the buy button and they assured me they have the phone in stock. And yet, it is still not shipped. Even worst, that item is listed as Out of stock now. If they are cannot send the order by next week, I am going to raise a case with Paypal for a refund and cancel the transaction. Absolutely going to stay away from this seller!

    • No problem I'll let them know.

      • Thanks much!

  • Mine shows still in transit after it arrived in Singapore on the 19th of Dec. I ordered on the 9th. I guess it will come on Tuesday now zzzz. They actually shipped it out pretty quick so I guess it is customs and all at the moment that is the hold up. By the way it is better to track with geekbuying using 4px tracking since they use that company to ship collate it to Singapore post. So far they seem to have done everything they possibly can on their end in a "timely manner" (for these types of shops).

Btw Clear can I just ask because it seems that you actually in fact work for them but you seem to refer to the company all the time. Are you employed as the English translator or something?

I'm interested to see if the phone will come with the offical global or the chinese version with multiple languages.

Technically you could say that I work for them, but I'm not an employee as such. I don't have access to any of their systems, emails, ordering system, customer info etc. I simply have direct contact with GeekBuying employees.

My job has always been to negotiate prices on products to post deals on. Now more recently I've been asked to help people out officially by relaying their issues to management directly. Most issues have been resolved already and they're even going to implement changes which cause a lot of these issues. What I would really like is to have the GeekBuying reps to become active again to cut out the middleman (me).

      • Okay that is great that there is someone like this. But the fact remains having a middleman like you actually creates distrust with the company. I hope they know this.

Look what you are doing is a great thing. But on the other side. Why are customers treated differently to you? Shouldn't GB give the customer with a problem the same attention as they do to you?

I am waiting for my first order. So far so good. But after reading about everyone's problems with them it has made me cautious. I will however wait for the phone to arrive before commenting further.

I agree that everyone should be getting the same treatment. Unfortunately that's not the case with most Chinese sellers on OzBargain. Just look at GearBest/Sammydress with their direct email for OzBargain customers. You're getting special treatment for being an OzBargainer when everyone should be getting the same level of support. More reason for me wanting to step back and letting GeekBuying do the job.

It's very surprising what people say and what happens with some of the recent issues. Some people have not seen the shipping notification email while others (like OP) have not used the correct website for tracking their orders. Sometimes people make massive rant posts only to send me an order number from a completely different website. I'm not saying this is the case for everyone, but most people are very quick to take sides here.

  • So I order my phone (order No 3845865) tracking number never worked )it shipped on the 15/11/16 after many emails and 1 phone call they after 5 weeks tell me the phone was sent to Nepal. Which is wierd since I live in WA. I said I want a refund directly they say the phone has to be returned from nepal first . UMMMMMM I didnt Bl**** send it there so im not standing for this delay rubbish It wasnt my fault

I have raised a case to Paypal hopefully the can get my money back for these dodgy buggers… BUYER BEWARE Geekbuying.com aint flash

  • Just an update. My phone just arrived with everything I ordered (Almost took a month actually it has been a month since I placed the order and paid but they shipped it a few later).

Phone works. I think I am satisfied for the price I paid.

Would I buy from them again? Yes since they have paypal as an option. Would I do free shipping again? Not for phones, maybe for cheaper items. But I will probably do DHL shipping next time as it took 3 weeks to deliver (with limited tracking).

They answered my emails (there seems to be a delay in replying though like days…).

The phone's rom is definitely the global edition so I was happy with that after hearing some people got the Chinese one even when they ordered global.

I guess for geekbuying and other chinese sellers we will have to lower our service expectations and use buyer protection methods to cover ourselves. Personally I will use them in the future since they posted it relatively quickly (1 week of sourcing and flashing phone before sending) but it took 3 weeks to get from Singapore post to Syd argh.
