Best Generic Controllers for Retropie

Hi all.

I've purchased a raspberry pi to set up as a dedicated retro pie station, so I'm after some decent (and preferably cheap) USB controllers to use with it. I would be playing games up to the PS1, so the controllers would need to have four face buttons, analog sticks, shoulder buttons etc.

There's a whole bunch of knock offs on eBay, but I'm just after some recommendations from you good people as to what generic controllers you've had experience with and would recommend.

    xbox 360 wired.

  • i really lik the usb n64 type ones- best button layout. only problem is the analog knob is slippery when using it a lot.

  • I just ordered a F310 from pccg yesterday. Seems decent from what ive read.

    • Yeah this is what I'm leaning towards. I think I'm going to pick up a couple of those.

        The best controllers:

        1 - $60 - Wii U Pro

        2 - $20 - iBuffalo SNES

        3 - $40 - Xbox 360 Wireless

        I also found this controller:

        ….the $50 - Interworks Wii PRO controller

        It can function like a
        - SNES controller
        - an IrDa Wiimote pointer and gyro
        - finally a joystick controller for N64/Gamecube/PS/PS2

        Lot's of positive reviews.
One negative review, maybe a defective unit?

        • Thanks Kangal for compiling all that. Wasn't aware about the interworks wii one, however the amazon reviews shows that is not reliable. The iBuffalo SNES looks solid and might be the best joy stick option.
