Can Powerline Adapter Works Efficiently with International Plug in Oz?

i am looking to get powerline Adapter but most with au plug are $50+ but i found few with eu or us plug that can be bought for $30…..however not sure if using powerline Adapter with international plug has any performance issues as i need to use multi plug socket to plug into oz wall socket?

Would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

  • Shouldn't matter. Just make sure the device is rated to withstand 240V.

It can matter if the powerline adapter does not meet certain specifications for our power here

Also what brand is the unit, plugging something in thats not certified for use within australia can cause interference and problems if it has not been approved for use.

    • So it's from the US and probably only designed for 110V.
You'd therefore need to run these through step down converters. The voltage conversion processl, best case, would interfere with the performance of the devices, more likely completely block any signal.

      $US25 plus shipping = $AU35 + shipping
So you're probably looking at spending $AU50 minimum (plus step down voltage converters at both ends for another $50 at least)

Versus spending $50 locally, not even on sale.

      • I did check the specification which says Power Source100~240 V AC, 50~60 Hz, so we don't need step down converter. There are more on aliexpress which you get delivered for $30 AUD brand new but they are comfast brand.

I use to buy from msy but going to auburn and waiting most of the time is way more painful then waiting for amazon deliver in 30 days. Also majority on the msy are also not with AU plug

        • Fair enough.. can't imagine too much issue with a plug converter…
It's adding an extra joint to the system, but there should be no electrical difference to running the device on an extension cord.

Queues in MSY must be an East Coast thing, I've heard people moaning about them, but worst queue I've been in was third in line with 2 people serving, and I've been at varying times of day and day's of the week.
I've been in far longer queues, for much more time in big retail chain stores.

  • Also there is option to change au wall socket to international wall socket which cost around $3 AUD each
