Bought a box of 12 a month ago. I am a bit of a winesnob. I've tried all of them and ended up with a lot of 'cooking wines'. However, the reviews on the nakeswines website are glowing, so it must be me…

    • No, its not just you!

We did the exactly same. We also ordered a box of 12 in LAST December, knowing not much about the wines. The red is tolerable at best, the white is intolerable and the "rose" wine was literally making me sick. I managed to finish the red and still have a few white.

      • aec don't know how you did it
Best I could do on some of the reds was finish one glass

It would be so much easier if they reduced the price of everything by $100, instead of needing a voucher that is always available

Buy anything from Kogan and they throw this voucher in. It's a marketing ploy and not true bargain.

  • And there is all that "Angels" and monthly subscription rubbish.

  • Marketing ploy. These vouchers are always thrown in with other purchases.

ordered these using the voucher chucked in with my hello fresh order. Ended up 'whining' more than 'wining'..

  • agree with all. Voucher is worthless as the wine is trash.

  • Wine used to be good..now just utter crap..also previously these vouchers could only be used for new ac

Disagree with everyone…. Have been using Naked for a couple of years and have always found the wines to be great value. There's a few dodgy ones, but you can telll pretty quickly from the reviews and they have some AMAZING value bottles if you choose well. WAY better chance of getting good bottles vs taking pot luck with Vinomofo or Cellarmasters. Each to their own I guess.

    • Just look at Naked's business model…they source grapes from b-grade growers…it's no wonder most of their stuff is shiite. They have some okay 3rd party wine, but the value is only okay with the voucher, not great.

Calling VM and CM "potluck" just means you aren't doing your research. They have far better value and better wine if you know what you are looking for.

      • I guess my point was that if you don't know what you're looking for and are looking for a bottle of wine to drink rather than trying to become a wine expert, the consistency of getting a mixed case from NW I have found to be far better than getting one from CM or VM. I'm consistently surprised on the upside with NW and often disappointed on the downside from CM (less so from VM). Don't get me wrong, I've had some amazing cases from CM and VM when I've bothered to do the research (or seen a good OB upvote ;), but for a lazy $10 bottle for a weeknight without having to pull out the Halliday I have been more than happy. As a music lover I can't understand why people listen to commercial radio either when you could spend hours doing your research and listen to some amazing tunes out there in the world of music, but most people just want to hear some tunes on the way to work. Some people can't imagine wearing clothes that aren't in fashion and spend hours keeping up with what's happening on the catwalks to ensure they are up with it, but some people just want to wear a freaking shirt. I get that for some people wine is their bag, but most people just want a glass of red after work and if you're in that category, then a $100 voucher from Naked does NOT deserve a down vote. Having said that, given they are pretty much available anywhere and not available to existing customers it's not getting my upvote either though.

        • When I say "research", I don't mean you need to be a wine snob. At a minimum, in a couple of minutes anyone can plug some wines into Vivino or Cellartracker and get some usable information. That you've preferred NW when your strategy is to blindly push the Buy button is what I'd call "potluck".

        • @redrum22: NW have reviews of every wine based on in most cases hundreds of users vs Cellar Tracker, Vivino, etc who on the wines they do have are often relying on 1 or 2 reviews if they have reviews at all of the wines on offer. It's that research that has informed the purchases that in turn have led to my preference. At the end of the day, I'm suggesting that's Naked is reasonable value based on about a dozen case purchases (alongside about half a dozen cases from VM and CM over the same period) and 3 years of being a customer. Or you could take your opinion based on a Google of Naked's business model as research and a total misreading of what they are about.

        • @musicbiz:

"Or you could take your opinion based on a Google of Naked's business model as research and a total misreading of what they are about."

I just have to laugh at this point. If you want to ignore facts of their business and have the wool pulled over your eyes, that's up to you. Most sites have user reviews these days, but most are fairly useless, NW included in my experience. That's great that you value NW reviews more than the widely accepted best sources in Vivino and CT.

Notice how you're the only one in this thread who supports NW. Any reason for that you think?
