Last one of these had telnet locked out by some random user/pass, was trying to phone home to a random IP in China (packet sniffing showed it was sending wifi ssid and probably password. Will not buy any more of their products again, this was direct from a seller that is often posting on here.

  • Bought one from gearbest, and paid $29.22 via paypal with visa card. Looks like paypal charged AUD other than USD, so I assume it should be no international transaction fee.

Will see how the shipping going from gearbest.

    • PayPal handle the currency transfer (which means you get their not-so-flash exchange rate) so it'll always come out as your accounts default currency from your credit card.

  • OP should add "with FREE membership to Mirai botnet" in deal title

    LOL

For anyone with this camera already, stupid question, how do I just record a video to the SD card? There is no record option on the app, only a snapshot (photo) option.

    • Looks like the English update just came out. I can now see the Replay function (From your camera, click the 3 dots on the top right then Discovery [top option] and Replay [Top option again], then you can pick the time you want to see ), where it automatically records the video throughout the day so you can actually go back to the time you want to review and see the footage. Pretty cool for a $30 camera.

      • Yes, I know the replay function. If I set the camera to continuous mode it works. I was hoping there is just a record button I can hit to record on demand.

        • Haven't worked that one out yet, but please share if you do :)

        • @anthous: Just got mine and the motion detection is very unreliable. How's your ? I'm just womndering if it's just my unit with bad motion sensor….

  • So just to confirm, this automatically records and stores footage to a MicroSD card? If so, what kind of file sizes are we talking about (per hour/day)?

Bought one from LightInTheBox (faster shipping and I've used them before, only cost a few dollars extra)

  • Is the deal finished?

Showing AU$40.10 and the code: GBCE did reduce anything.

  • This has been "Processing" for the last week…

Do I contact them or is this normal?

    • Mine is still at Processing too. Did you contact them?

      • Doing online chat with them now

        • UPDATE: They disconnected me from their live chat 3 times. Gonna try and claim a charge back through PayPal/Amex…. I'll buy a Logitech camera. I cbf dealing with these companies.

Paid for faster shipping and tracking as well…

  • UPDATE2: Sent gearbest support a email. They replied saying it won't ship till at least the 18th of Jan.

    I'm getting a refund.

    • Yeah I wasn't sure about Gearbest and paid a few dollars extra to buy from LightInTheBox. Took a week to process (ordered a bunch of Xiaomi stuff) but it's on the way!

I received mine yesterday! Picture, sound and night mode is perfect(when compared to my Tenvis cam). Although it's easier to setup than the tenvis one, I don't like much the mi home interface. Also, the Tenvis ip cam is easy to watch locally or remotely on every device(through apps or web browser) including my PC and my Android tv. I haven't figured out how to view the Xiaomi cam without the Mi Home iphone app.

    • Can you please upload a night vision sample video?

LOL…I haven't figured out how to record video yet! I need to invite one of my Chinese friends over for a coffee so they can help me out with the Chinese menus :)

        • just prepare some rice.. they can fix your water damaged phone too while they're at it :P

        • Fellow user here.

How to record (not so convenient but it's the only way i figured out so far)

This assume camera wifi already configured & SD card inserted.

          1. Access camera.

          2. go the configure option by clicking the '…' button on top right corner.

          3. go to 'Camera settings' > toggle 'Continuous recording' > wait for 'success dialog'. Ensure the device detects your Micro SD Card & showing remaining storage. If not, exit>re enter 'Camera settings' until it works.

          4. To access video. go to '…' > 'Discovery' > 'Replay'

          5. you should see the video file recorded every 5 minutes interval with their respective time stamp. Click them to re-play.

          6. I don't think you can 'save to mobile phone' from here. You need to manually eject SD card to do old style backup of any video that might interest you.

Video are categorized by per-day folder in the SD card. 'Oldest day folder' will be automatically deleted/overwritten once storage space runs out.

          hope this helps.

        • @paradoxez: Thank you paradoxez, but the camera settings menu is in Chinese :)

        • @GregFiona: Hmm, that's weird. Mine was in English though. Perhaps your mi home app needs some update? or there might be language preference setup somewhere…

Note: It appears someone are developing custom software mod to allow web steaming access/ record video to network NAS at the moment

  • Hi, finally arrived, updated to the latest firmware.. although the camera is great quality / resolution, I cant record, timelapse isnt working for me, and seems like both the SD card and USB memory stick arent being detected.. anyone have better results? (Firmware version is 3.0.3.56).. Thanks @paradoxez RE the link to the streaming business.. it would be awesome.. given it has a webserver on it from what I read, it shouldnt be initially that hard to just cycle thru the images and display over the net.. (i.e. port forward from router to the cameras web server), but yeah live streaming is gonna be fun..!! The camera has soo much potential.. just as-is, its a bit of plastic ice cube :) (Great to show off to the partner tho, that im streaming video from one room to my mobile!! :P

  • Received mine today…setting it up now.

  • Anyone able to setup motion detect+send images to email by any chance? looking for help.. Thanks in advance..
