Cheap Plus Fitness 24/7 Membership - Bella Vista (Perhaps Others)

Hi all,

I need to sign up to a gym. I'm shopping around. I need a 24/7 membership. Main competitors for me are either Plus Fitness 24/7 or Anytime Fitness. It appears that Plus is usually around $13 per week, whilst Anytime is closer to $16 per week.

They both have joining fees and once off costs, but we all know that those are designed to be waived. It also appears that Anytime memberships come with contracts…whereas Plus Fitness is fortnight to fortnight.

I previously used to go to Anytime fitness. After being quoted $16.99 per week, I maanged to haggle it down to $11.50 per week. I had 6 other friends join with me, and we all paid in full.

I plan to do the same for Plus Fitness (In an attempt to get a cheaper price, perhaps closer to $10 per week) - I gave it a shot over the phone today, but to no avail. They didn't budge one bit.

I plan to speak to head office and say that if they can guarantee me $10 per week, on a 12 month contract, paid upfront, I can get them x number of sign ups by posting the deal on "an online forum"; namely OzBargain.

What does everyone think of this idea?
Do you think it will work?
How many sign-ups can I expect?
What other leverage can I use?
Advice?

Thanks all. Curious to see how this goes!

Happy new Year :)

Edit: Hi All, I ended up securing a deal with Any time Fitness. We agreed to $10.38 a week on a 12 month contract. Pretty happy with that!

Thanks for all your help

  • The corporate deal I'm aware of is
    - No joining fee
    - 2 weeks free
    - $12/week with no contract

I'm currently paying $11/week paid 12mth upfront. However, my gym leader is a friend of a friend so it may be inaccurate.

I'm skeptical of them being open to your offer, but good luck anyway. Hope these prices give you a baseline.

    Happy new year.

    • is that plus or anytime?

OP, I could be part of your campaign am looking to join in Kellyville if that helps.

      • Thanks.

May be useful. I'll keep you in mind. Thanks :)

      • Plus

    • Thanks, this info will help :)

      • I am interested in joining Plus Fitness too. Their current offer is half price joining fee and two weeks free. I tried waiving the joining fee but no dice. Did you have any luck?

  • I doubt they will budge, they have their own advertising teams by the way and sales people who also cold call and do offers
I really doubt by posting here you're going to do a huge amount that they already do

Also one offer for one person is never going to be the same for someone else, I love when people are abusive to the staff members via email / in person / over the phone offering x this amount, why can't I get it, its usually due to loyalty, length of time etc

    Gyms aren't cheap to run
Contracts will yield cheaper overall prices because it stops "gym hopping" which is nothing but an admin nightmare when they bend over backwards to offer a no contract low fee and then people move in 2 weeks to another gym

Always get a free trial and make sure the gym is the "right fit" before wasting the administrations time

Joining fees and one offs can be waived 9/10 times by contract sign up for 12 months, its designed for the above comment I made

Good luck in your venture but theyre really not going to budge baseline pricing, all gyms have an operating cost / turn over figure to stay profitable
