Holiday travel to Melbourne and Surround

I rarely a planner for Holiday but has been ask to organise a trip to Melbourne on my behalf. We first arrive at Waterfront Place, Port Melbourne in the morning.

have 3 or maybe 4 people adult group want to visit Melbourne and area surround for 3 full days (2 night stayz) in February. We are plan hire a small car rental for travel outer Melbourne for things worth seeing.

Do we need myki for melbourne city transport from port? Any suggestion to what things to see, do around Melbourne or outside Melbourne area for this time frame.

Any suggestion how can we find the most cheap value hotel or bed breakfast, car rental, things to see, eat etc.

thanks help

Firstly you will need myki card if you plan to travel by public transport, unless everything are done within the FREE TRAM ZONE in the city area.

if you have not drive before in Australia or Melbourne, check the road rules, driver side is on the right for Australia!

is the best for planning, I was using it just 15 minutes ago.

as with your other questions, I would suggest you to go with tours if you unsure what to do & where to go
I feel that it's different taste to their own..depend what you want to do in Melbourne & what's your budget?

From Port Melbourne there is only 1 tram that goes into the CBD, You will need a myki as port melbourne is outside of the free tram zone.
The most annoying thing about myki is: the cost of the card is $6 and it is NON REFUNDABLE. If you are only going to travel into the CBD once or twice, I say uber or taxi is better for 3-4 people.

    • Definitely take the tram from Port Melbourne. That way you will go over Melbourne's notorious Montague Street Bridge.
