Finding cheaper car rental on Gold Coast

Anyone have any tips or sites for finding cheaper car rental on the Gold Coast. At the moment it looks like cheapest is $120 per day but that seems expensive for a compact to me. Any help would be appreciated.

Great link, there are some good deals on there that I wasn't seeing on the main websites. Maybe they are "secret deals" that the companies don't like to advertise. Thanks for sharing.

      • No worries, glad to help.

Don't forget, you can also keep the overall cost of your rental down even more by forgoing the rental company's excess reduction and instead opting for a travel insurance policy that covers the full excess. Depending on the length of the rental, this can be a significant saving. :)

Try Apex. It was recommended to us by a friend and we had no problems with the last gen KIA Optima last month for $70 no excess and GPS. The only little problem was the GPS was not updated so we were using our iPhones instead.

    • Apex looks good too. They seem to just offer a few models but prices are a bit better than I was getting. Thanks for sharing.

We have been renting from Cut Price Car Rental over the years (as I visit my family there twice a year). Going to Gold Coast in 2 weeks and getting a 5yo Camry for ~$33/day.

    • Great tip. Thanks!

i heard Wicked campers are relatively inexpensive but they have a lot of peripherals that they add on e.g. cooking gear. If it suits you it might be an option.

    • Thanks for the lead. I am more looking for sedans etc so will try the other sites suggested above. But thanks for sharing.

  • OP, the big car companies do offer great deal and cars if you get the know how and codes sometimes. It depends on your travel dates. PM or post the dates and car size your want: where to pick up or return. May look it up for you - since doing mine and family's booking.

Otherwie book car when buying air ticket eg Jetstar or Virgin also offer good rates from experience.

    • AVIS code TPPA044 hire 11 days or more gets 3 of them free.
code UPNA014 free upgrade eg hire standard will upgrade to full.
      Valid till Feb.

      • Great stuff. I looked for codes but wasn't sure where to find them.

I ended up booking a car using the first website suggested by StewBalls. It was half the price for same size car as I was finding directly on the car rental company website. Pretty cool.
