'Advice for a Mini Projector

I am after a mini projector and was wondering if anyone has one, or used one and could tell me what they are like.

I have been looking at Chinavision and I am only after something to run a slideshow at a dinner party, so doesnt need to be elaborate, just want something that is reasonable. The have the Atom one at a good price http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info.php/pName/the-atom-u…

I would apprecaite your thought or ideas.

Thanks

  • I see a few problems..
    China vision/vasion censors user reviews.
You may need a travel plug to convert to an Australian power plug.
Any projector you buy must be able to acept 240 volts (avoid any that have a 110 volt input only (USA)
Light output, Some of these really don't output much at all. Are the lights going to be all turned off?
For the bulb non led models make sure you can buy the replacment bulb and it's not to much $$$ Also check how many hours they will last.

  • Thanks Dan for the info, I was really hoping to buy one in oz, as I would love to see it in action first, but a quick look on ebay looks like most of them are dropshipped and there is only one place I can see in Sydney but they are a bit pricey for me.

I will have to keep researching, but at least you have given me some ideas what to look for and I appreciate that.

    • Try looking on youtube for user reviews of pico projectors. An alternative would be buying a WDTV mini, Astone 108D etc.. and connecting it to your TV. Whack your photos on a usb flash/thumb drive view them on your TV in slideshow mode. Should set you back $50 for the WDTV at dse or similar.

This is coming soon to Dick Smith

Should be late next month if you can wait.

Projects up to a size of 50"

  • Thanks guys for your advice, I would do the wdtv but we have a function room at a restaurant so I am not sure if we will have access to a tv, will have to give them a call. Unfortunately I need it before the 7th August dicksmith.
