Citi ATMs will be free but they may not be conveniently located. Other travellers have reported that most ATMs in Europe are free. Just go with a major bank of the country and your chances are good.

  • Easy,contact Citibank and find out :)

    • There's a locator, Google for it. Problem is a Citi ATM may not be nearby and even if it is you may waste time hunting for it in a strange city.

      • You can withdraw money from their local ATM with only pay their local ATM fee which is not much, save the hassle to find Citibank ATM :)

Often there isn't any fee with other banks in Europe.

Have a read of the Whirlpool wiki, which covers a lot of the info you're after: https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/citibank_plus_transaction_acco…

    • Thank you so much :)

    • Why does Whirlpool have more OzBargain-y information than OzBargain?

    • I am also travelling to Morocco, but didn't bother mentioning it in the list above because I just assumed there would be no option.

Until I read your link. Lo and behold, there are TWO options for Morocco.

      Thanks a bunch!!

Just use whatever main ATM's you can find, while traveling overseas you need convenience of getting cash when you need it rather then wasting time trying to find a specific branded ATM.
Ive withdrew cash in the following coutries over the past few years and don't think I was ever charged anything, and I'm sure that never ever used a Citibank ATM.

    UK
    Switzerland
    France
    Belgium
    Netherlands
    Germany
    Czech Republic

Report much the same as other's, no charges across much of europe, but did find one charging in Barcelona!.

Word of warning, had a card changed by Citi due to minor fraud (2) - UK, but not by me!.
Lesson …recently went to Europe and card would not work!! ….new card, and assumed it would have kept my original pin, not so.

Suggest …. ensure your pin works with a transaction in Australia first, if it is OK it will work in Europe. I may be corrected by others, but I think IF it is not used for 6 months the card is suspended, and only lifted by contacting Citibank.

Also, just remember they will want to send a code to your phone to activate or change things regarding the card. This prevented me from unlocking the block, as my phone was back in Australia. This aspect prevented me from obtaining any cash, lucky the wife had her card!!!!. The Citi card otherwise is the best, enjoy your trip.

You don't need to find a Citi ATM, used my Citibank Plus Account Card in Europe many times, no fees for cash withdrawals.

Have used in in various ATMS in the following countries, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, France, Spain, England, Netherlands, etc.

    Relax and enjoy your holiday!
