I am travelling to Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore in June/July with family for two weeks. After going through various flight booking websites, the cheapest price I got is $3984 [$4025 after fee and other charges] for 5 of us [Three adults and two kids] with Cathay Pacific.
Flight Schedule is:
Melbourne - Hong Kong
Hong Kong - Malaysia
Malaysia - Melbourne
Also looking for hotel to stay at near Disneyland in HK.
You'll save a fair bit if you book with Air Asia. Although it would require a stop in KL on the way to HK
On my previous flight with them they kept rescheduling. I only have two weeks to travel and with Kids I think it will be better to avoid Air Asia. If I was flying by myself I would go for it.

Cathay is a nice airline. I think it's pretty reasonable!

Yes, kids' tickets are cheaper than adult tickets. I just booked it and total was $4,025 actually.
The period around about 10 June to 14 July usually a bit higher pricing. High season ?
I noticed that too, may be because of school holidays?
