Strata Apartment Cleaning Cost

Hi all,

Can I ask how much does your strata pays for cleaning?

My building has 8 units and they pay $3500 yearly for only floor mopping and rubbish take in/out.
Considering their job is very poor, I thought that is a bit much.

I was considering to nominate another cleaner, but just wondering, how much do you spend on yours?

Thanks

  • Ours is about the same for a ten unit building.
I once tried to suggest a different supplier as I found it expensive but apparently the amount was considered reasonable in the market.

Looks like there's a business opportunity out there!

Thing is, $3500/52 is only $67/week. Including driving time and the 2 or 3 people that come, it's probably not much more than $15/hr for them.

    • Yeah, very little, but yet the quality of work they do in my apartment is very poor.

They mopped by barely touching the surface of the floor, they skip the stairs, and skip some parts that they may think too hard…
      Plus their detergent stink…

Then there is the awful work of the rubbish bins…
      Oh dear…

Ah that was the end result of my efforts - instead of changing provider they just warned them to up their game or a new provider would be found, and things started getting done properly.

        • Would you do it yourself if they paid you that much?

        • Probably not to be honest. It'd take a good few hours at least. All the vacuuming, doing the bins and bin room, they even polish the brass hand rails.

  • Haha sounds like my complex, we are 8 as well. We changed company and it is an improvement.
I can't remember how much we are paying though.

  • Get some other quotes and submit to the Owners Corp Exec.

I'm with an club and we used to get the toilets and floors cleaned but they did a bad job often, then we got a quote by a group that hires disabled workers and they do a good job and are about 25% cheaper- lower end of market rates, but it also employs people who otherwise probably wouldn't have jobs.
