Ain't the $199 x 2 pairs thing free with other funds? I get two pairs every year without paying anything extra to spec savers, ah ignore me, dunno how much it usually costs with hbf

    • May I know which insurer are you with?

      • The main ones that offer two pairs for no gap with Specsavers include Medibank, HCF and BUPA.

Obviously it depends on your policy, but you can get an idea of what your health fund offers via https://www.specsavers.com.au/health-funds

        • isnt this like a normal deal anyway?

        • @bonky:

That was what i was thinking im pretty sure its free. Im with BUPA

    • you may get them for free - but you have to use up $199 of you optical limit - I think in this deal you only have to use $50 of you limit..

      • Are you sure this is how this deal works? Or is the $50 the discounted gap payment? It not very clear…

  • Only for those on the lower limit (usual excess is $79).

If you're on the higher covers you'll likely be covered for much more and this deal is of no benefit to you.

    • +1

This is a very good deal for all levels of cover. If you spend $50 at specsavers then $50 will come off your annual limit. You can then use the remaining amount later in the year or put it to use on other optical benefits or lens upgrades.
If you aren't with HBF then $199 will come off your annual limit.

      • Wait, do you mean that I get two $199 pairs for $50 ? Surely not?

        • Guess I'll find out and report before the offer ends!!

      • Just called them up, from what the lady was saying like it's pretty much a $29 discount - so if I have higher cover, $179 will come off my annual limit (instead of $199).

But happy to be proved wrong!

  • Waiting for similar deal for bupa member.

    • Bupa covers 2 pairs no gap from $199 range regardless of the cover you have. If you have $150 cover you get 2 pairs of $199 no gap, or $100 gap for 2 pairs of the $249 range.

      • What if you have $150 cover and you only have about $50 left on your annual limit.. Can you still get no gap?

        • Nah, you need the full cover for the deal to work.

        • Is it processed in store through HICAPS?

        • @jdogg: Yes it should be.

      • I know. The offer which you said is normal price from Specsavers.

But if there is similar deal for bupa member, for $150 cover the customer can get 2 pairs of $299 without gap payment. This is big difference.

        Thanks,

  • Seems like a good deal. Use it four times to get eight pairs of glasses free from your claim allowance.

  • Really hate that meadownick advert on tv that they brainwashingly play multiple times. Sometimes they repeat it one after the other. When it goes on now i just switch channels.

So any other places such as specsavers will be my choice simply because of that annoying advert..

how shortsighted you say to me… 2right!!!

Then again its a laser clinic.. still hate the advert…

  • went to Specsavers store and they refuse the offer as mentioned with my HBF (full optical cover)
