Too expensive for an old phone. S8 is coming out soon…

    • +3

The S8 will more than likely be around $1149-$1249 on release without a Gear Fit 2.

The S7 is still a great phone.

    • +1

And it will probably cost $1300 and not come with a free watch.

  • Anyone chasing the gear fit 2? I'd get the phone

Samsung are kidding themselves if they think people will upgrade in droves, I'm on a Note 4, love my new technology and still have no reason why I'd wanna spend $1000 plus. Of course they could be assholes and stop patches for the old models as they've suggested they will… That'll just push me to another brand though.

    • Same although I'm seriously thinking about replacing my Note 4 with LG V20.
That said, Note 8 should be quite good (providing they've sorted out the battery issues they had in Note 7 of course).

      • That was the one I was leaning to, given its audio abilities, however lg has some bad reputations, and it's $1k… Unless the phone dies, I can't see the reason to spend that.

        • +1

Yeah i know about bootloop issues they had with some of their previous models but so far the V20 does not seem to have any of those. That said, i did read a few reports that the glass covering the camera lenses is very thin and does crack easily and when contacted LG doesn't really wanna know anything about it.
If it wasn't for that, given the specs and the capabilities of the phone, i think that V20 is worth $1k, most definitely worth when compared to the price of Galaxy, Note and iPhones.
I could take the risk and buy it regardless of bootloop issues with previous models, but the cracking glass however is kinda the main reason why I'm still holding off getting it.

Exactly. What type of idiot would upgrade every time a company released a new, almost identical model and queue up for days outside the stores to make sure they were one of the first to get them?…..oh wait :P

  • S7 will crash at the end next month when S8 is released.

    • +1

Everyone keeps saying this but is it something that usually happens? Current S6 prices are still pretty high. Is the crash in the price of a phone when the newest version comes out only temporary?

      • You can always check price trend graphs, it's natural for tech to devalue over time.

        • Based on this UK site http://pricespy.co.uk/product.php?pu=3026763# it seems that after the release of the S7, S6 prices became more volatile. In my opinion it seems like when the phone is superseded it goes on sale more often and with deeper cuts, with an initial drop in prices seen in the month after the S7 release. This initial drop however was definitely not a permanent one.

So yeah, there might be a short crash after the S8 release.

      • You can blame the Note 7 on price hikes for other models.

S6 will be 2 models old then, it'll drop notably.

  • Where does it say $100 off?
    So $100 off $849 = $749???

  • Where is it $100 off? Nothing says $100 off?
    Seems like the regular price?

    • Regular prices:
      S7: $949
      S7 Edge: $1049

  • last time I checked s7edge was $999, so price increase to cover discount is not really a discount.

  • mobileciti have the similar prices..

    • +1

Except $100 more, kinda the reason this was posted… save $100.
