Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband Data Pass options...

Hi, I have accumulated a lot of prepaid credits on my Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband Data Pass plans.

I have tried to insert the sim in my android mobile but I cannot buy anything from google play that way.

Would I be able to buy things on google play if I had a sim enabled tab or would it be enough to use a portable router (using the sim in the portable router) and then buy things from google store?

  • You should be able to use your Recharge credit balance on Google Play assuming you are on the original data pass offer. The sim needs to be inserted in an Android device.

More recent activations are on Data Pass 2 and cannot be used with Google Play

  • Can I use a portable router with the sim in it and then connect (and spend on google play)?

  • It has to be in the device making the purchases. What point are you getting stuck at? Should be something like:

1.Insert sim, make sure you have signal

2.Find the app you want to buy in playstore

3.Change payment method to Telstra billing

    4.Purchase

  • I don't have a device with a sim feature. I was hoping to use a sierra 320 u portable router and do it that way…

    • What do you mean you don't have a device with a SIM feature?
You say in your original post that you tried it in your Android mobile, what happened? What went wrong?

  • Not going to work, to purchase with Telstra credit on Google Play the sim has to be in an Android handset rather than a wifi modem.

  • Ok, thanks mate.

In relation to Android mobile, does not work with mobiles (using mobile broadband sim) according to telstra

    • It works in any droid if you are on the original data pass offer, rather than Data Pass 2.

  • Hi, strange strange, but I could use my droid today…
