Feedback: Is $60 for Optus Unlimited Broadband a good deal?

HI, just moved places (yay) and looking at internet deals.

Was surprised to see how high the prices are for unlimited broadband! I can get Optus broadband for $60 (plus $200 start up since i need month to month) with the $20 discount. Is this basically the best deal i can get?

If not, any recommendations would be appreciated.

Im sure at my old home we have some epic cheap deal with optus that gives us unlimited phone + internet + fetch for $55-60!

  • What happened with going with myrepublic? Check whirlpool forums and it should be all the rage at the moment

    • oh i've never heard of them?! I'll check em out. thanks

      • $60 on optus seems pretty good actually (except for the once off $200), I'm guessing going with cable?

I'd go with myrepublic if NBN is available, they do offer ADSL too, myrepublic pricing for ADSL and NBN, month-to-month, $99 for the modem and an extra +$10 per month (from 59.99 to 69.99), home phone at PAYG is $0

        • wow their NBN plan is the same price as their broadband plan?!! I'll read whirlpool reviews tonight!

yeh the Optus is with cable..altho I'm having doubts whether my optus number is actually eligible for the $20 discount. It's not a $30 per month plan as T&Cs required, but it worked when i put it in.

  • Have you spoken with Optus to see if they can transfer your current deal (or something similar) to a new property?

I haven't moved in nearly a decade, but back then they were happy to transfer to a new address.

    • nah I was at home with the fam so they'll keep the deal.

  • It's a good deal. I am paying 70 for 200GB + home phone for Optus Cable.
