Video Editing Software

Hi Folks
I am looking for a program that can edit some MP4's that I have. I just want to cut out, bits at the start and finish. The main requirements are, it must be easy to use and cheap or free if possible.
As always, thanks for all of your help.

Windows Movie Maker? Free and easy to use

    • If your running a Windows based PC, you would be hard pressed to find a simpler to use software for free.
Tones of Tutorials on UTube if required.

    avidemux (free)

+1 for Movie maker but otherwise most commercial programs will have a 14/30 day trial
Pick one that doesn't put a watermark etc

  • Thank you. I should have pointed out that I am running Windows 10 64bit. I'm told that Microsoft didn't put Windows Movie Maker on Windows 10.

  • See http://www.windowscentral.com/best-home-video-editing-softwa… for some options.

Some are free or have free versions.

  • cut pro x is really good

Avidemux was already suggested. It is Freeware and works on Win10. I use this one cause it handles most filetypes. Not so good for splicing different file formats but good for cutting out unwanted sections.

    VLC

  • VideoRedo TV Suite

If you want to keep the quality, you want one that will not re-encode the video file.

For a free but possibly harder to use option, google "ffmpeg edl"

  • I use the free version of VideoPad by NCH.

Just do a google search, make sure you include "free" and use the free download link (not as visible as the standard link).

VideoPad is a great midway point between movie maker and something more fiddly like premiere pro.

Some of their other software like wavepad (audio), prism (file conversion) Zulu (live DJ mixing) is pretty decent.

  • I use shotcut, it's free but takes a couple edits to know how it works. Thankfully there are some YouTube videos available.

Thanks for everybody's help and suggestions. The program that I ended up with is Avidemux. I found that it is the easiest to use. Thanks again.
