Resource sites for points swapping / other tricks?

So I have 133k velocity points and 140k qantas points.

I plan to move back to Canada and might use the Qantas points for a 1 way ticket in March. But then I will have 133k velocity points that I will need to use up. Any suggestions for optimizing points use?

  • I sometimes glance at sites like:
    http://thepointsguy.com/

  • So, I am still going to be looking at traveling internationally later in the year. I guess I was thinking I could transfer the points to something else for that. Looking into South America. Might even come back to Australia in June to do some temporary work. Was more interested in resources to optimize points use since I have lots of potential trip ideas.

Check out a comprehensive guide on optimising your use of VA points here: http://www.pointhacks.com.au/best-uses-of-velocity-points/

Otherwise, AusBT just today published an article on the best uses of 50,000 VA points or less: https://www.ausbt.com.au/the-best-ways-to-spend-50-000-virgiā€¦

A quick google will bring up a few other sites that can help you as well.

Note that there is no way that you can swap Qantas or Virgin points with anyone other than bonafide family members without risking your account being cancelled in contravention of their terms and conditions (a quick search here will bring up lots of sad stories of people having accounts suspended / points confiscated due to airline crackdowns).

Just an FYI for anyone reading this, I recently sold points to lochlomond89 before and definitely recomend him - totally legit, smooth easy transaction and a great guy to deal with :)

Thanks mate. you're a top bloke!

  • To everyone offering to buy my points, I was referring to swapping between programs not selling my points.

  • Convert your Velocity Points to Singapore Krisflyer miles at 1.35 VFF to 1 KF Mile, then use to redeem with Air Canada as a Star Alliance member?
