How does the Sodastream compare in terms of taste and value?
The gas is a killer, not worth imo.
you get the same taste as the amount of CO2 added is controlled by how long you press it down to gas the bottle. So you can make it lightly fizzy like the Italian waters or ultra fizzy like deep spring.
Trick is also chill the water in the fridge before carbonating …. needs less gas to saturate so cheaper to operate.
Cheaper than the 75c for 1.25 litres homebrand sparkling mineral water…. works out about 40cents litre with the sodastream.
If you want cola, or the fruity softdrinks, it's cheaper to buy on special at supermarket than use sodastream and add syrup.

I just bought a soda stream as I was getting sick of carrying bottles of water back from the supermarket.
