Purchased Domestic Flight - Now Can't Go

Hi guys,

I have booked a flight to Perth today with my Girl Friend in March. But now because due to some reason we both can't go on that date.

What's the best way to get the money back, or to somehow recover the money or potentially use it on something else ?

I booked it with Jetstar at the lowest level (so i think its non-refundable… ?)

Anyone with experience changing flight time and all that ?

I am so sad that I didn't check beforehand….. but yea… any suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance!

name change fee is like 55 per flight…. so its like 220 overall….

Don't change the name *cough*, they never check ID domestically.

        • wouldn't the person who are going to buy my ticket be problematic h?

        • @kingSlayer: Yes, it would unfortunately…I was ID checked a few weeks ago on a domestic flight also with jetstar.

        • @StewBalls: That's new! At what point did they ask for your ID?

@Lukian: Check-in/luggage check, maybe you can skip it if you use online check-in, but since we had oversize kids stuff to check through we had no option.

        • @StewBalls: The policy there used be - "if the kiosks don't take ID, we don't need to either".

        • @Lukian: It certainly wasn't a hassle for us, but does add some risk to the OP's chances of slipping through in this case, sadly!

        • wow that's handy to know. gonna try that next time.

Contact Jetstar & see what they can offer with regard to name/date change or partial credit…failing that, you might just have to cop it sweet, we all stuff up from time to time.

Call Jetstar ASAP. I vaguely recall some airlines being lenient on "errors" like this within the first 24 hours of a booking or something?

    • Agree, if within 24h you may get a refund.

    • Thanks for the suggestions, I called them up just right after I see your reply.
They didn't let me refund it, however, they offer to rebook my flight for me without charging me the change fee. So I just need to pay for the price difference.

      Thanks a lot!

      • Great result!
