I'm looking for a company in Melbourne who can fix my terrace house balcony. It's suffering from a leaking problem for almost two years - on and off. I've got some quotes in fixing the problem, some of them cost more than $5K (remove tiles, inspect joists, w/p panelling, membrane), others suggest that I can double waterproof over the existing tiles and give cheaper quotes. Don't know who to listen to.
Can anyone recommend RELIABLE tradies/company to do this? Really need help here.
How long is left on the warranty

If this is the case then I would want it to be inspected for integrity and strength
You could waterproof over the tiles if there is no damage to anything the balcony has been leaking into
IE Support structures etc
2 years to leave an issue is a long time and has probably caused more damage than good, so this could indciate why the price is higher
what are they basing the price on for the quote?

Firstly check if your gutters have been cleaned out.. 90% of the time you just need to clean then out for your down pipes to do their job.
I normally put my quote requests through the Masters Builders website. I've had a good hit rate up to now on suitable builders.
