Help Neeed - Swimming Pool Filter Issue

Hi all, need help with a few questions.

Yesterday I accidentally switched to "back wash" function while in filter mode without turning off the machine. The filter stopped, I've restarted the filter but it had no "Flow", I've noticed one of the PVC pipe was slightly dislodged from the other joining pipe which is attached into the ground. After aligning the two pvc pipes ithe filter started. It seems to work fine but the water seems cloudy even after 6 hours (worst than the day before) Below are some of ithe questions I hope someone can help me answer

-how do I know if my filter is working properly after the incident? Could the cloudy particles be from the salt chronnator?

-Any suggestions?

  • If I need to get a repairer, can someone recommend one in Melb eastern suburbs who is reliable and decent price.
    Thanks.

  • Hopefully you can get a professional to help, or maybe even just go to the pool shop and describe the problem to them. From what I observed though on my pool in my previous home (sold last year), we always had 'no flow' for a while after a backwash. It usually goes away after a couple of hours.

    • Agreed. I'd go into the pool shop and describe it, and take some photos. They'll know exactly what it is

  • I would say you've caused some damage putting it into back flow mode
most likely going to need a unit replacement at worst case, if the water is cloudy it could indciate some other issue not filter related

Are your PH values within tolerance and water quality tests all good?
I would start there before ripping your hair out

  • Thanks, I will get the water test this weekend. I've noticed that the water is not running around freely from the glass sight while the filter is running. Also the salt chriinator seems to be pumping harder with a lot of salt.
