  • Another white one. Would you rate the expedition watches at all - there's a 43 mm black dial one for US$50.59 shipped on this site:

    https://www.amazon.com/Timex-T49905-Expedition-Chronograph-L…

    • I've never owned a Timex but they seem popular, there are plenty of reviews on Amazon.

That one you linked to is only a few dollars below the average price according to Camel

Ahh, TY. The brand was the first watch I owned. I was chuffed to get it aged 12, but my parents wisely noticed that is would not, under any circumstances, stand up to the stresses of being taken out in the Manchester weather. It lasted about 9 months being worn only on Sundays.
        I heard they had improved a bit…

        • They are fine watches for the money but you may be better off with a diver or 'divers style' if you expect water or rough usage.

        • @tonyjzx: Both of them are 100 meters rating, which bemuses me a little as I'm not sure the leather is, but yes, they do put out quite a range, with the 1960's one I had a ' dime store' model. All the Seiko '5's I've picked up over the years have done well, usually being lost or the bracelet failing rather than the watch itself pegging out. I'm looking [probably mistakenly] more at the waterproofing as a measure of care in assembly, ability to withstand surface swimming, and protection against spilling tea and coffee on it in my dotage…

    Another superlative post from OP.

  • It's showing as $79.99 (USD) for me when I click through.

    • Deal Expired - Only one left in stock so they have put the price up.

      • ok I see. thanks

  • If you can be bothered, the Timex GMT can be had for as little as USD$41.20 which is ~AUD$54.46 on the ebay.com at the Timex Shop. However, you need to use a freight forwarder like Shipitto and it sells out very quickly as for a GMT, this is peanuts.

    Saw on WUS recently.

    • cheers for the info, and a great thread on WUS

      • Yeah, you see some pretty amazing deals pop up. The coupon stacking on there puts this place to shame. It's an Affordables thread, but it's more US$1,000 and below.
