DSE: Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty - $69.97

1360

This should be the cheapest price for a local copy of SC2. Comes with free express delivery.

Benefit of getting the Aus/SEA version of the starcraft is that you can also play the game on North American server. If you preorder SC2 from USA for USD$59.99, not only you have to pay for the price of shipping, you also cannot play this with your friends on the SEA server.

Thanks SeaWeedYuMMM on Whirlpool.

  • great price. im getting one!

  • Price is $95.95 now. Maybe I'm at the wrong page?

    • its definitely $70. click on the giant ad on the homepage?

    • -2

Maybe still using old school PC

  • oh well paid $10 for the beta :P

  • +2

Good price. I already pre ordered for $80 though :-(

  • If I'm not mistaken, it should be $69.97 + shipping. When I added to cart the total ended up approximately $76. Game.com.au had this offer for $79 free shipping, still competitive nonetheless.

Only debatable issue is which method delivers quickest.

    • +1

Shipping is free as per the large banner on the home page.

    • yeah, when you pay it only charges you 69.97

  • +1

Bought one.. thanks poster, for throwing away 100+ hours of my life for $69.97. :)

    • +4

      no throwing away $69.97 AND 100 + hrs :D

  • Yeah thanks for correcting me on that. I double checked it and this time it didn't charge me for shipping this time :S

Very well-priced for a game that hasn't even come out, probably since its part of a trilogy

  • i think the release date is wrong.. i thought it was the 27th? not the 28th

    • Yeah weird, Wikipedia says 27th. Although, as per the product page they will ship it on the 27th so it can arrive on the 28th (probably). One day probably doesn't matter :)

"Pre-Order now and have it dispatched 1 day before release date. Most Metropolitan areas will receive the game on release day. Release date 28.07.2010."

  • Just bought one, shipping is removed at checkout

edit: Maybe it's the 27th in the US, which would make it the 28th here?

    • Pre-Order now and have it dispatched 1 day before release date. Most Metropolitan areas will receive the game on release day. "Release date 28.07.2010."

      • I just checked dse again, and they have now changed it on the product description page, but not on the frontpage sale banner.

"Most Metropolitan areas will receive the game on release day. Release date 27.07.2010."

=] it seems they've realised their error and rectified it, so now we'll get it the same day as everybody else! hurray!

Damn you, Dick Smith! And damn you, poster!

    • -1

      It's a trap, don't do it.

    • lol not everyone has preordered this. Brilliant now Im going to preorder this game!

  • time to get a new gfx…

    • I was wondering what to waste my tax return on.. it seems my mind has been made up for me.

  • nah eb games are releasing it the 27th im going to the midnight launch on the 26th :S weird they have it a day later

  • Just ordered one. Thanks for the deal.

  • Anybody know if this copy will work on MAC?

    • the nice thing about Blizzard games is that they ship both PC and Mac versions on the single disc. So yes this will work with your Mac!

      • Awesome, im wondering how it would run on my 13" MBP thats on a 2.26ghz core 2 duo with 4gb ram, graphics card is the standard NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.

Would it be enjoyable on it?

        • not quite likely, sc2 is heavy duty of graphic card

        • +1

Blizzard games are very well known for being able to be run across a wide range of systems, so you don't need the latest and greatest to enjoy it. Ignore what cloud226 said.

I've run the beta on my 1st-gen aluminium 13" Macbook with 2GB of ram and 9400M and it is most definitely playable on medium settings in Windows XP. Note… in Windows XP. I've had a go at the Mac client and it could only manage to run smoothly in the lowest settings (which looks horrible) so your best bet is to run SC2 via Boot Camp in windows XP or 7 instead.

        • it should work fine.

  • Was hanging on this game and for that price I couldn't resist! :D

  • Ohh bugger :( Just downloaded the Digital version too. 7GB wasted.

Edit: Just posted a question regarding the release date, I think it'll take a while to be approved/answered though.

Edit*2: Thought I'd try and get EB Games to match the pre-order price for pickup - no dice, though it seemed to be a gray area for them so you might have more luck at your local.

    Edit*3: Bought :) Thanks OP.

  • Pre-Order now and have it dispatched 1 day before release date. Most Metropolitan areas will receive the game on release day. Release date 28.07.2010.

  • Nice find thanks mate! Just ordered mine!

  • Just ordered mine =D thanks mate!

  • Wish I held off for 1 day. Purchased mine from game.com.au for $79

    • return? lol

    • can anyone confirm that they can return their pre-order from game.com.au? The T&Cs online state we can return them to any store for a full-refund, but I just called three stores saying they can't :S

    • ASk them to price match, or give you $10 store credit. I've had good dealings with GAME online, if it's just 1 day hopefully you can cancel without fee or get them to discount/credit you.

  • It sucks when you work 9-5 and can't pick it up at your local post office even if you can score a good deal :(

    • +3

      Chuck a sicky on the 28th =D
      That's what I'm doing!

    • Post offices have early morning pick ups. Go there before work once you know it's been delivered.

Zonedrenalan in Melb CBD is $69 if by cash or eftpos, 74 if CC.

Doesnt seem to be any option for Woolworths employee discounts, is this right?

    • +2

put your staff card in the everyday rewards field. Should be sweet and give you your discount.

  • ordered…. thanks OP!

  • OMG i bought it on game for 89.95 FML lol

  • Uh oh… I just received my order update and it's on backorder.

    • Yeah me too. Hopefully they can get more stock in soon.

      • +3

I had this happen for Modern warfare 2 and when I rang the call centre they said it was just because they had to hold the orders to stop them shipping until the day.

PS I called a DS store for to ask about release day today and they said 27th so sounds all good. Sicky here I come :P

  • It says in the description at dicksmith that this is the "limited edition collector's set", that's a mistake right?

Or is it the one with the usb drive and all? i.e.: http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/pc-games/starcraft-2-win…

  • Just ordered, and realised I’m paying $70 for ⅓ of a game. I suppose that’s $210 for the whole game, eventually, at least? :(

    • dont worry dude it's pretty much a full game lengthwise. just one campaign of three. but yeah $210 seems excessive (but knowing blizzard they'll probably take another 2 years to perfect the zerg campaign!)

    • wat do u mean that is it onli 1/3 of a game???

      • He means this game only includes the Terran Single-player campaign, and 2 more releases (expansions?) will cover the Zerg and Protoss campaigns.

It's hard to say at this point, but apparently each campaign is pretty long, and a lot of work has been put into the story, so we probably aren't getting dodged too badly.

  • +2

Are DSE allowed to still have that banner advertising the game even though a lot of customers have been back-ordered?

  • Anyone having trouble getting onto the website? It's timing out for me.

  • Yeah the website is down for me too.
Probably taking it off the site for now since so many ppl ordered it!

Edit: Working now. 4am. Finally placed my order.
Hopefully it'll come to my door on 27th.

  • +4

Thanks, finally decided to get one…. Hopefully my relationship doesnt suffer because of it

  • Question: so this DSE starcraft 2 allows player to play on both US server AND Southeast Asia server? How is that possible?

I haven't preordered starcraft 2 yet because I need to make sure the local copies work on SEA server…

    • Yes you can. But not at the time of the launch. According to blizzard, the aus version will be on the SEA region at the time of release, US server will be accessible in 60 days of the initial launch.

  • i would like to buy it, play the single-player campaign and sell it second-hand,
but i am not sure if this is possible because i think you need to activate online with the key to play.

is there any way you can sell it second-hand?

    • From what I hear you'll have to tie the CD-key to your battle-net account permanently to play, not sure if that applies to single-player though.

Either way, most people are smart enough not to buy second-hand PC games because they're only good for the CD-key, so you'll have to trust the seller.

  • they changed the description :Pre-Order now and have it dispatched 1 day before release date. Most Metropolitan areas will receive the game on release day. Release date 27.07.2010.

    • i bet that typo lost them half their sales

      • I called a few stores straight after i read it :) No-one could confirm whether it was a typo or accurate, but they'd said they already had countless calls asking the same thing.

        Bet it did cost them.

  • wat did the guy above mean wen he said he's payin $70 for only 1/3 of the game?
    thats makin me worried..

    • Dont quote me on this, but I think he's referring to single player mode where you can only play Terran's missions. Single player for Zerg and Protoss will be released in the expansions.

  • so is this the full complete game?? If so, i'm going to order a copy.

edit: so any copy of starcraft II which is coming out only lets you play the terrain campaign in single player??

    • +1

The upcoming wings of liberty only has terran campaigns. There will be another two releases in the future for zerg and protoss. Even though you only get 1 side to play in the single player campaign, the length of the campaign will be long enough. The biggest selling point of SC universe is the competitive online play. You will be able to play all three sides online as well as custom maps (there were quite a few during beta).

      • oh ok, thanks aggregate for confirming! i've placed an order already and looking forward to it

  • -1

If only GAME's online store allowed a refund of the $10 deposit, I'd be getting this =/

  • Just got a pdf from DSE telling me the delivery status is now "On Back Order. Delivery Date to be Confirmed."

    • +1

Scroll up, apparently it's so that they don't dispatch it immediately but on the 27th.

  • I ordered 2 copies by Paypal and Credit card but the Ordered section is empty, not sure my orders were processed or not, but both credit card and paypal were charged. Anyone has same problem?

    • +1

Trying to check for you but I can't get into DSE's website again.

    • I got a paypal confirmation almost immediately, also a DSE confirmation.

Not sure if the heavy traffic on DSE site would be a reason not to get the paypal one at least..

    • My first order by credit card was completed and now is shipping. The one by Paypal is not displayed yet.

  • PCCD Starcraft II 1 69.97 69.97 On backorder, delivery date to be confirmed

    =(

    That was 8.30pm confirmation yesterday

  • +1

My order is now showing up as complete :) Will be receiving it tomorrow

    • Same =D.

  • Is this price available in store?

    • nah, online only. It's $89 in store.

      • I called up my local DSE and they put a copy for me on hold at $69. I'll walk into the store tomorrow and pick it up. :)

        • +1

Yeah you're right. Apparently this price will be in store.

  • ordered! awesome!
i just spent like half an hour watching a match between terran and protoss - too addictive!

    • Tester vs TheLittleOne King of the Beta? Epic matches

    • Agreed! I watched through every match i could fine, awesome commentary.

  • I have a tracking number as well from AAE. Thanks OP!

    • Does it start with "AD…"?

      • Mine is ADS66****

        • same same :D

        • Does anyone have trouble tracking the ADS66**** number on aae.com.au website? My number keeps giving me an "Unable to find requested consignment number" error…

          • @cranial: Yep me but thats nothing unusual for the australia post website. It often takes 24-48 hours for them to update my orders.

            • @videoman: same here. 24-48 hours seems like quite a long time compared with other couriers…

      • DS for me!

*edit: shows with driver right now, can't wait.
