Tips for Finding Bargains on Washing Detergent?

Typically I don't use much clothes washing detergent as our clothing is never heavily soiled and we tend to wear items (excluding underwear) several times before washing. As such we only purchase a couple of times a year and buy the cheap Eco kinds of powders.

That is all about to change as we are having a baby and will be using cloth nappies.

Now apparently cloth nappies demand more expensive/intensive washing liquids/powders or you risk a stale ammonia smell building up over time and we will need to wash every second day at least.

So, any tips on which brands to look out for, stores that offer great prices and do these products come up on the 50% off supermarket deals regularly?

  • I used modern cloth nappies with my baby and didn't not use any special detergent, just want we normally would (whatever is on special).

I got a Choice Magazine recommendation for this

    • 1) OMO REGULAR 82% 54C per wash
    • 2) OMO ULTIMATE 82% 82c per wash
    • 3) Cold Power Regular 81% 45c per wasH
    • 4) Coles UltRra Concentrate 81% 18C per wasH
    • 5) ALDI Trimat Advabce 80% 29c per wash
  • Aldi Trimat
Aldi Disan Oxy Laundry Soaker & In Wash Booster

  • I got a 20kg box of Radiant when Masters first opened for $10

Ran out about a week before they closed up.
    Wish I got more.

    • Do other hardware stores sell bulk washing power. If the price per scoop is low, a 20kg box is fine by me. I hate buying cleaning products regularly.

    • Wow that is a steal.

  • Aldi is good

  • Aldi Trimat - great cleaning results and cheap!!

OMO Matic - graet cleaning but a bit more expensive.

Choose either of the above - miles better than the alternatives…
