Pest Control for Kitchen in Rental House

i have a rental house where the tenant vacated… they got their bond back so as you can imagine they left it in good condition

this family never used the oven (!!!) as they didnt care for baked dinners and the like

i do notice that the is a reasonable amount of cockroaches the morning after

the house is otherwise clean and requries no house wide pest extermination

is there something i can do for the kitchen alone?

i have used multiple roach bombs in the past but i dont think they are that effective in an open kitchen that adjoins a living room

Go to Bunnings or grocery store and get one of those 2L spray kits and spray in cupboards (empty of course) behind fridges, doorways etc. It lasts for a few months.
If possible spray under the house where you can.
Make sure no food scraps are lying around.
Cockroaches love ceilings, so have a bit of a spray up there too.
They are everywhere, some places more than others but no one is immune to them.
Black plastic bait boxes work well too… under house or behind cupboards.
You would be able to claim pest treatment against your income for the property if want to get a professional job.

Let off a 3-pack of bombs. After about 4 hours, chuck them and open windows and doors for fresh air. Over the next day or two, seek and dispose of dead roaches. Should be effective for a few weeks.

  • Go to a chinese $2 store, ask them for the cockroach stuff in the little green boxes. Sprinkle around especially under things and in dark places like water heater cupboard. Come back in 3 days (it takes 3 days for full effect). There will be dead cockroaches everywhere. Vaccuum, and be roach free for 3 months. Packs cost $2-$5 and one pack should be enough. I am pretty sure they are just pyrethrum pellets

Bug bombs 3 Pack - Bunnings, Coles or Woolworths.

I wonder what the residual effect of these bug bombs and spray kits is on people. They kills cockroaches and other bugs. Quantity is not enough to kill people but it cannot be healthy…?

The X-Ray vision is only temporary. About 4 hours after setting off the bug bombs, give the place a good airing.

  • pull out the oven and give the area a good clean first, vacuum, then hit with the chemicals.

Then wait a day and hit with the roach killer stuff suggested above.

  • A $3.30 can from Woolworths does the trick for me. It lasts three months, just follow the directions on the can. Aldi has an equivalent too…

For a few days after you spray you will need to clean up the dead ones.
