Changing Dates on Plane Tickets

This afternoon I was meant to book my flights to Brisbane return 10/2 - 13/2. However due to idiocy I accidentally booked my flights 1 week earlier.
I would be happy to pay the difference in airfare, however is there anyway to avoid the flight change fee (Virgin on the way there, Tiger on the way back) given I have booked the tickets only so recently.
Completely understand that there is probably no way to get out of this, but thought I would give it a shot asking here.

Contact them ASAP - can't remember which airlines had this policy, but I remember a few had the 'free change of flight details within 24 hours of booking' policy. Good luck!

Qantas has that policy. You can modify your bookings anytime uptil midnight, same day.

  • Well Virgin's booking office is closed now so no chance. You might get lucky with Virgin however I feel that they'll insist on charging you. As for Tiger, you're of luck.

    Update on the situation.

Called Tiger up, and they waived the fee straight up no hassle.
Virgin on the other hand took about 20 minutes of coercing before they finally let up.
In the end they both waived the fees!
