How to find hotels with separate room for kids - most search results suggest rooms with kids on couches

I've tried and failed on heaps of different sites but hopefully someone can recommend a specific one?

Even though I put in 2 adults, 2 kids, and insert their ages, every search on every site continues to show me mainly
a : rooms for a maximum of 2 of 3 people, or
b : "Children use existing bedding" which always means a couch, sofa or cot. This isn't how I want to spend my holiday!
I then have to read the fine print for each result…

I need to find hotels in various towns (in Thailand specifically) with what I think are reasonable filters :
- 2 bedrooms (ie separate rooms for the 2 adults and 2 kids),
- on the beach
- with a pool
- AVAILABLE on the dates I choose
- Under a set price (some of the places are $1,500 per night :o)

I don't want an AirBnB house, I want a hotel/resort.

note : I regularly book hotels and use heaps of different sites to compare prices AND I've read the wiki listing all the best sites.

  • Have you looked at Trivago? You seem to be able to nominate for Multiple rooms; although you serem to need an adult in each room. Might be worth looking at as a starting point.

While booking select as 4 adults and you will get seperate room/beds.
also if you need seperate room/beds be prepared to pay for it.
I am sure hotels will not complain that the adults are actually kids!…

  • i think you'd need to search for villas OR (if possible) connecting rooms

Not sure about Thai, but in Bali normally there's the 2 bedroom suite or 3 bedroom suite. And that comes with a centralized living room. It can cost more compared to booking 2 standard rooms though.

Sometimes the terms and conditions on the website can be vague and just a standard wording. I find it easier to just call the hotel directly and ask.

Basically just search for 4 adults

Yeah - I've had similar problems.
Most search engines are not well equipped to deal with this.
Also, most hotels will not allow all adults in one room and all kids in another - they require (at least "officially") to have at least one adult in each room.
'Family rooms' can be hard to locate but, if you keep looking, you'll find some.
Another way is to go to the Tripadvisor forums for the places you want to go and ask for recommendations there.

  • Which Towns ?

    • Kata or Karon beach , and Phi Phi island.

We last visited both areas about 13 years ago and it's pretty different planning it again with kids!!!
